I guess it was a joke, but if it wasn't it can work pretty well. When I was young, I worked at a pub and we introduced the 'fucking sad half an hour' which was the opposite of the 'happy hour' and meant one beer for the price of two. Most people thought it was funny and ordered like crazy during that time period.

It probably wouldn't work today and for an online shop though.

Well, at least the games are discounted. ;)

But I guess it's a bug. When "We Happy Few" was introduced yesterday I had the possibility to buy for 3% off for some minutes (which meant the normal price, because the fair price package was missing instead). Might be connected to this strange promo.
