Ai war fleet command with it's dlcs played this a little.
Haven't played ai war 2 yet
Maybe Rimworld?
But don't know if Rimworld would count as real time strategy
Also liked warhammer 40000 dawn of war but i only beat the original campaign, still need to play the rest like winter assault.
Spellforce 1 and 2 real time strategy with rpg elements, haven't played 3 though

Here is few my recommendation

Older RTS
-Dark Reign
-Original War
-Rise of Legends
-Joint Task Force
-Celtic Kings
-Cossacks
-Heroes of Annihilated Empires

Newer RTS
-Iron Harvest
-Northgard
-Five Nations
-Loria ( Free on GOG )
-Starship Troopers: Terran Command
-8-bit Armies

I can name a lot more, but I am not sure if you want RTS without base-building.

idbeholdME: Only on GOG or any RTS?

Ancestors Legacy is pretty good.
I love Ancestors Legacy. Plays like a Medieval Company of heroes with Battle for middle earth base building.

I definitively recommend it.

I might know a few.

I suggest Warzone2100, 0 AD, & Widelands.
Do the Desperados and Commando serie belong to rts genre?

Widelands is a remake of The Settlers 2. I wouldn't call it a "RTS". Great game btw,
Well, as banal as the suggestion is, I could as well mention Starcraft and its expansion, Brood War, since no one did above. Or the very first Command & Conquer... even though they're not on GOG.
I also second the recommendation for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War which luckily is on GOG. All the games in the collection are absolutely worth playing for RTS aficionados... and even for those who aren't, I'd say.
I could also mention Z, which is available on GOG although in a remade/remastered version that elicited many less-than-flattering reviews, so caveat emptor (I haven't tried this new version myself).

I'd like to thank all contributors for their recommendations, especially Syphon72. Despite my past research, a few intriguing titles had somehow escaped me. It's surprising how previously unknown, interesting titles keep popping up. It's great, but also a bit worrying as you wonder how you could possibly play them all...
It is nice to see this post again . . .

okay, okay . .. one for the aficionado's

Steel Division 2 or Regiments ?

The first Command and Conquer DOS version was officially released as freeware many decades ago, so you're unlikely to ever see it on GOG.
AOE 2
Homeworld

If your asking which is better, I would go with Regiments. Less micromanaging compared to SD2 and feels more like World in Conflict when it comes to the battle scale.

Also, like to point out Regiments has no MP. It's 100% SP base game.

There were many suggestions that were already added but I wish to amend:

Tallima: Empire Earth
Empire Earth is so awesome that it has two branching sequel series:

Empires: Dawn of the Modern World (same developer);
Empire Earth 2 (same IP holder and publisher).

These are both great games as well. However, the sequel of the first is not on GOG. The sequel of the second is not as great, but you can find it here.

Also, some of my first GOG acquisitions were: Praetorians, Ground Control (both) and Hostile Waters. They are often at very good discounts here, but these are a bit different than traditional RTS.

What do you mean? EE2 is on GOG

Yes, I think I didn't write clear enough...

EE2 and EE3 are on GOG, but "Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War" is not.

Is Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War a made by the same people as EE?

Exactly!

Empires: Dawn of the Modern World (on GOG)
Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War

Made by Mad Doc Software:
Empire Earth Expansion (on GOG)
Empire Earth 2 (on GOG)
Empire Earth 3 (on GOG)
