Mafwek: Oh, I am just teasing about despising it. I just don't like it. I don't know if it's good or not, that would require me actually watching it.

I hope I don't need to mention that I don't have anything against those who watch the show and enjoy it?

Leroux: Hey, no problem, like I said I dislike a very popular show as well (Big Bang Theory). And there are some people I like very much who do enjoy it, it just don't get why. :D
I don't like both shows, but I never liked the books either or most US comedy series.

But speaking about series that meet the criteria of the OP with a mixed audience.

Lucifer came to my mind.

For me it was just another "a not a cop helps the police" series. But some liked the son of the devil being like he is in that show.
I think I was feed up by such shows after Castle.
Last time surprised me the one korean series: Black.
Romantic detective drama with some fantasy elements.
I don't usually watch shows like that, but it was pretty good.
I just wanted to watch only one episode, and I finnished all of them in few days.

I had an eye on that one because it looked cool, but I feared it might just be an average K-drama of soap opera quality. Maybe I should give it a try.

(To be fair, I don't really know anything about K-drama. I just watched this mini series Dramaworld, about an American K-drama fan who literally gets sucked into the K-drama universe, and that one made it seem like K-drama follows specific rules that are similar to soap operas or clichéd romance novels and movies. The mini series was entertaining enough, but I wouldn't have wanted to watch the real K-drama stuff as presented in that story.)

burn notice. it's a pretty corny show but it holds up.
it's the type of show you can watch an episode of and not really feel left out.
Jeffery Donovan and Bruce Campbell really nail it through out the whole series.
The Wire

Stranger Things

Supernatural

All three great shows have lots of crime, cops, detective work, drama, and suspense in them.

the wire is hit and miss. at first it's about corruption in the Baltimore docks but then they shift to drugs? been a while since I watched so idk....
I also recommend Damages. It's got a lot of nice whodunnit style writing that will keep you guessing in the first few seasons, but has you almost rolling your eyes later on.

Yeah, I was about to suggest watching half of season one of Prison Break and to then bail out for god's sake bail out and not look back ever. But after all, nah. The later seasons made the first episodes cease to deserve any attention, in retrospect.
I've heard Fargo (series) is good. Didn't see any episodes yet, but I liked the movie.
Or maybe take your pick from here.

I like it a lot! Each seasons tells a different story, with a similar tone and atmosphere as the movie, but there are always one or two characters from previous seasons to tie it all up together. My favorite is the first season (starring Martin Freeman), but the others are also good.

BeatriceElysia: I also love DR House & Vikings, but crime/detective tv shows that are gruesome are more unrealistic & it more annoys me that they are picking at watcher irrational fears. And some episodes of Criminal Minds were criminally driven by irrational fears.
What do you think about "Bones"?

If noone yet recommended "Altered Carbon" it's a good mix of sci-fi and detective story.

FireEngine: For a program outside of that network, maybe the old Columbo series.
I've just rewatched the Johnny Cash episode and it's reminded me how good that series was. Especially when there's good chemistry between Falk and the guest star.

Has anyone seen the new, what is it "Deadly Class" show yet? It looks good but commercials can be deceiving.
