I'm looking for a dirt track racing game. It's got to have realistic physics and be quite fun.

Note: This is not off-road, but an actual track made of dirt. :)

It could also have other tracks. I'm not opposed to racing on asphalt, but I've just got a hankerin' for something on the dirt track.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I have PS2, PC, and XBOX 360.

Dirt 3 has dirt tracks :P It has a fair number of tracks with other terrain, such as asphalt and snow as well though. It is one of my favorite racing games, though one of my friends says it's not realistic enough for him, so I don't know if it fulfills your condition about it being realistic. I'm no feinschmecker about that sort of thing myself, and never noticed anything unusual. You could see some videos on YouTube and see if it looks okay :)

One thing to note is that not everyone loves the Gymkhana-levels (getting points with drifting, smashing blocks, doing jumps, and so on), but I don't think you had to get perfect scores in those to progress.

The PC version of Dirt 3 has also had the GFWL patched out now, and it has been replaced with Steamworks.

Thanks! I was looking at the DiRT games and didn't see actual tracks. I'll take a closer look. Thanks a bunch!

Wasn't that obvious? I mean, it has dirt in the name...

Just one warning though: If you tend to realistic physics and simulation in general, stay away from DiRT: Showdown. That one is just a spin-off aiming at the casual crowd. It doesn't even have off-road tracks IIRC.

You may also want to take a look at and [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pure_%28video_game%29]Pure. I haven't played any of them, but the latter was made by Black Rock Studios who also made Split/Second, the best racing game I played since the PS1 era.

Everything I saw earlier from DiRT (I haven't looked at more yet), it had dirt driving, but not dirt track racing a la the local dirt track race track (here in Tennessee). What I've seen in most of these are crazy tracks, hilly tracks, off-road races, and that sort of thing.

I'm looking for a game like Nascar, but had dirt tracks instead of paved. Upgrading the car, driiving the different classes (sprints would be fun -- the only Steam game with those looked horrid) and maybe going up a career ladder.

Well, there goes TrackMania out the window.
At the moment I'm playing the first DiRT game (aka Colin McRae DiRT) on PC, bought it cheap 2nd hand a couple of months ago.
I like it a lot, it has all sort of disciplines, off-road, dirt track, rally, rallycross.
The physics while good, feel a bit too grippy even on full realism though that doesn't mean the game is easy.
Also the PC version needs a file edited if you want to run it on multicore systems, it's easy to google for if you need it.

Although it's probably not possible due to licences, I really recommend this title for GOG as it complements Race Driver GRID which is asphalt racing.
Motocross Madness?
If you're looking for a realistic and fun dirt track racing game, there are several options available to consider. One popular choice is "Dirt Rally 2.0," which offers a realistic physics engine and a variety of dirt track circuits to race on. Another option is "i Racing," a highly realistic racing simulator that includes dirt track racing alongside asphalt tracks. Both games provide immersive experiences with accurate physics and offer a wide range of tracks to race on. Additionally, if you're interested in custom race suits, I can provide some suggestions based on your preferences and requirements.
Need for Speed: Porsche had a few courses with some parts that were different racing surfaces. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it did handling differently on them. Most of the game is paved though.

Great racing game. Not super realistic, but very "feels good" (with damage).

Not available anywhere but ebay for used disc copies or nebulously as so-called "abandonware".

Hello Tallima!

My first thought was about "RallyCross" on the old Playstation 1. It even has a stadium dirt track as the final race. The physics, though, are very simplistic but included (for my knowledge) for the first time a complete roll over of the (bouncy) cars.

Another idea would have been "Destruction Derby" (1 & 2), which both included dirt tracks in stadiums alongside the (in)famous destruction derby arenas.

And what about the first "Flat Out" (here available on GOG.COM)? It is pure dirt racing!

If you are open to the more simulation type of rally racing, than I would suggest everything from "Collin McRae Rally", "Mobile 1 Racing" to "Richard Burn's Rally".
I do not experienced the Dirt Rally series, but they seem to be the modern interpretation.

Kind regards,
