Exciting new stuff for Thimbleweed Park, Man O' War: Corsair, Vikings: Wolves of Midgard, and more!

It's a well known fact that after the summer shopping spree is over and what is described by psychologists as "Backlog Guilt" sets in, you are twice as eager to get gaming. But whether you're trying your loot for the first time or you're in the middle of your playthrough, extra content and fixes are always welcome. Here are some titles that got leveled up in the past couple of weeks, in case you missed them:

<span class="bold">Thimbleweed Park</span>
Ron Gilbert's darkly humorous point & click got some cool fixes but the most important additions are the all-new idle conversations between your playable characters and an in-game Hint Line. Just dial 4468 (HINT) from any in-game phone to get those sweet puzzle hints that would put your college fund at risk, back in the day.

<span class="bold">Man O' War: Corsair - Warhammer Naval Battles</span>
A ton of changes and fixes have been implemented in the game, the most important one being a new campaign which lets you play as Nurgle's Chosen and spread the plague all across the Old World. How can this not be fun?

<span class="bold">Vikings: Wolves of Midgard</span>
Plenty of fan-requested features and improvements recently hit this fierce action-RPG. Chief amongst them the couch co-op multiplayer option plus several changes made to the NG+ mode and the Trials of the Gods. Plus the game is now 50% off until next Monday.

<span class="bold">Turok 2: Seeds of Evil</span>
The latest update to the dinosaur-blasting shooter brings Dedicated Server support, as well as DirectX improvements and a few new multiplayer game modes, the InstaRok and New Raptor-Fest.

<span class="bold">Through the Woods</span>
This atmospheric horror adventure just became even more atmospheric, thanks to the completely re-recorded voiceovers for the main character, now provided by actress Malin Pettersen.

<span class="bold">Expeditions: Viking</span>
Quite a few changes and additions: A new "surprise round" feature to allow player positioning before the enemy turn when ambushed, full Danish localisation, three new campsite scenes in the Denmark campaign, new animations for Taunt and Dust abilities, a new generic support ability animation for when you're wielding a spear, and an animation for consumable utility items (ie. potions).

<span class="bold">Death Road to Canada</span>
Fixes and seasonal events galore! Canada Day and July 4th bring recruitable beavers, Uncle Sam, and Muscle Eagle, all of which have special lines and things to say upon death.

So what are you waiting for? Fire them up and check out all that cool stuff!

Is announcing updates in form of a news post the new/fixed update notification system?
Seriously, GOG???

You really are just taking the piss now aren't you GOG?
I wonder if GOG has considered the possibility that the site is so buggered it would be cheaper to start fresh? o.O

adaliabooks: Eh... I'm usually on your side Gog, but considering the current state of game updates and notifications this was possibly not the best news post to make...
And don't forget about how they nowadays announce the removal of a game .

Would be nice to finally see the engine update for Machinarium (on steam), so I could actually play it on a HDPI screen... and not see the lores adobe air thing what we have here instead.
Can anyone from GOG ping the developer please?

"Hey, look at me juggling with your eyeballs, did you see that ?"
The use of the word "noticed" in the title genuinely made me think this was about the notification system. Oh well.

That being said, the in-game hint line for Thimbleweed Park sounds awesome.

Still in need of a new PR guy, uh?

groze: But I would also like to make something clear: Galaxy doesn't have any notification system for updated games, as well, it's not just the site, like so many people in here seem to think.
The point is that if you use Galaxy, then you get the updates automatically (unless you disable them) so don't need a separate notification (and if you don't have the game installed then you will automatically get the updated version when you next install it).

But if you like to archive your offline installers, like many of us do, then you need the update notifications. Especially when you have a lot of games to manage.
I have not and none of those are among my favorite games.

This.

It's as if GOG is joking with us. No, we didn't notice, and we will not notice until you fix the notifications!

This is extremely insulting. Did I notice something that you went way out of your way to make sure I couldn't have noticed? No, I did not. The fact that a user was able to fix the notifications with Barefoot Essentials proves beyond the shadow of any doubt that you can fix them, too. You choose not to either because you can't figure out how to, or far more likely, you want everyone to get fed up with this BS and use Galaxy. Fix the notifications on your site! Sheesh!

At least it sounds like Through the Woods is now playable. The only reason I haven't played it is the poor voiceover job. Now that they've fully re-recorded all of her lines with a different actor, it's on my wishlist.

Wow GoG. That's kinda like getting shot and the shooter asking if you're okay.

Yes, but only for installed games. And as someone pointed out, only if updates are off (or you're paying attention) otherwise the games update in the background and you have no way of knowing something has changed.

If I want to keep a backup of installers through Galaxy there is the same issue.
Nifty. I'm waiting to see updates to older games, making use of your new relationship with dgVoodoo. :)
