Usually I do not try to cheat in games, unless its absolutely soft locked with a feature within a game. In this case Its with Ravenloft: Strahds Possession's Perm Stats debuff system. I was wondering if there is a way (other then playing better) to moderate the stats of characters with a safe to use editor? For my case I just want to adjust my characters HP to 41 from 20/20. Thank you.

I don't own the game, but rather than use random .exe's found on the net, it's often safer to use Cheat Engine, and then add the correct game specific table.

thank you for the mention of the software, I went to go try it out and... my small brain was hurting a bit trying to find hex values for a while x.x I was trying to do certain things within the games to find a clue for where I can tweak the HP and I became to panic'd and got lost in translation with that. Again thank you for mentioning the software and I will keep it installed and will keep trying to play with the app to see if I can solve the issue in the future. :)

You can also try looking for UGE (Universal Game Editor), I think it only has version 1.0. The file is called UGE10.zip. See the attached sample so you can get an idea of the file size. If it's different than that, then it may not be a legit file.

If I have time to login later today, I'll see if I can provide the link. There may be a topic or post with the link if you do a search in the general forum.

I've used it to resolve some issues in the DnD gold box games. You may also be able to find .mdl files for some of the older DOS games, including many of the DnD games.

Does Cheat Engine work for DOS games? I never tried it myself, so I'm curious.

I think it works for stuff run through DOSBox (you select the 32-bit DOSBox.exe as the process target that Cheat Engine hooks into). I'm not so sure about DOS games run "raw" (run directly as 16-bit processes under a 32-bit version of Windows). Hardly anyone does the latter now though.

Ok, that makes sense, guess I never tried that. I'll have to experiment a little bit next time I run a game that uses it.

The only safe way to cheat is with Cheat Engine. Just watch a tutorial on Youtube.

BTW, for future reference: the Ravenloft series forum (two games technically counts as a series!) is here. : )
Cheat Engine, is basically just a glorified hex editor with some useful features and a database. If you know what you're looking for, you don't need it, but I think it also does things like live insertion. Which can be tricky.

Careful, most Antivirus engines think of it as a virus.
