yes idw is the current rights holder and they have reprinted the us issue in 8 tpbs entitled transformers classic
and the tf uk series is being reprinted as well in 9 tpb's off their own

the uk serie s starst to develop its claws around issue 32 with the wrath fo grimlock and has its first mini epic with 47-50 war of the dinobots
another one with in the national interest which is one of the few stories that makes III look like a legit threat
before it launches in to target 2006 the first epic
an 11 part story that weaves in and out the movie

the man of iron in tf us 33 and 34 were actually the first uk comics after the initial mini series which si why it had sucha slow burn
nobody really knew yet what to do with the series
after that came the first 2 stories from simon furman the enemy within and raiders of the last ark which are not really all that great
it took furman a while to find his voice when he foudn it though
...well he is the primairy transformers comics scribe for a reason

anyway start with these for the US series http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers_Classics
and these for the UK series http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers_Classics_UK

they are a bit costly but they also have digital versions

Digital is the way I would go.

Did a little googling, the closest thing to a GOG analog I found was comiXology.com which offers DRM-free 'backups' but they only offer the first IDW Classic Transformers reprint which is missing the early Circuit Breaker issue and the Spider-Man teams up with Gears issue.

They also have the UK Classics up through volume 5 so far.

They're DRM-free which is good, but 90 bucks and missing issues, eeeh. They need crazy go nuts sales like GOG.

Anyway, thank you for all the good information.

*throws some more Radio Shack catalogs on the pyre*
weeeeel spiderman and circuit breaker are both owned by marvel
idw brokered a deal for circuit breaker because she plays a vital part in the later issues

but spiderman ?
no way
not with out laying down some serious liscencing cash

the only way to get those issues is by buying the long out of print titan transformers tpb beginnings
its thankfully not expensive and the missing issues are present and correct

cause back in 2002 who still cared about a crappy old comic that died 11 years prior right ?

the link you gave me claims IDW's second reprint contains the Spider-Man issue along with the previously missing Circuit Breaker issue. :p
Not really surprised about the news. The clerks in the stores, at least the ones I went to, were always so elitist as to make you wonder why the stick was not sprouting from their mouth instead of just the other end. Ask for help and they act like you should have had the answer before you even walked through the door.

Back in the 70's and 80's they were great and customer service was always a must with them.

the ones i got ( from the humble tf bundle ) did not have them

its possible that the normal version do have those issues though
Wonder what kind of "creative" accounting methods they've been using to stay in business for some long.

The poster above you necro-d the thread for off-topic spam (Radio Shack is a store, not a radio station, like the bot (?) seems to suppose. Better let this thread lie in it's grave.
funny time for a spam bump because Radio Shack has been making the news for their "edgy"(?) new Twitter manager
