So, with the recent unbundling, my shelf feels like even more of a mess than before. I would like to set my own manual sort, but there are several problems with this:

I have ~600 games now, and clicking on the "manual" sort option scatters them in literally no order whatsoever. I can see this being a multi-hour job to meticulously click and drag every box around, as there are just too many titles to even know what should go where until I get into it. So here are my questions to those who use manual sort:

If I manually sort, where do new games go? Is it easy to add those in to my sort?

If I switch back and forth between manual and the other two options, does it ever screw up your manual sort when you return?

Have any of the changes GOG has made with unbundling screwed up your manual sort?

(Great, now I've said "sort" so many times, I've lost it in my brain. Sort sort sort sort sort.)

Thanks in advance... I'd like to sort my games, but if it's just going to get screwed up by some external factor I won't bother.

So let's see.

New games go to the end of the shelf if you are using manual sorting.

I did not try every option but switching between list view and my manual sorted shelf was working without messing up my sorting order.

For me the unbundling did not really screw up my sorting, just all the unbundled games just went to the end of the shelf, the rest stayed at the fixed places.
For me, manual sorting stopped working in October 2014. I can move games around normally, but when I leave the shelf and then come back, all the games I moved have returned to their original places. I suspect this is connected to the number of games on the shelf. I was somewhere between 600-650 when it happened.

So far, I've made two support tickets about it. First time was right after it happened, and I got a reply that it's a known bug and they're looking into it. So I shrugged it off thinking it'll soon get fixed, but nothing happened, and eventually in late January I made a second ticket, and got a reply that this is not high on their list of things to do. Somehow I got the impression that I shouldn't bother asking about it again.

Does anyone else have this issue, or is it just me? The first reply I got from support seemed to imply that it's a universal bug, but maybe it's just me or a handful of people, and hence the low priority.
I have my games manually sorted in my library, which currently consists of 164 games:

Switching between sorting by title, purchase date or manually has never messed up the manual order of my games. The unbundling has had no effect on this.

Newly purchased games get added to the bottom of the shelf.

I'd love it if GOG enabled you to have separate shelves, to make my library more manageable as it grows. Anyway, best of luck with your sorting!

Nope. Here, guard my petty soul gem and five gold pieces.

Is it just me or is your user name relevant?

Did someone else necro this thread whose post got deleted?

Most likely yes because post 5 is missing (hover your mouse over a post to see its number).

Why didn't I think of that? Thanks!

Tauto: Is there a solution?
GOG implemented a solution a while ago. They removed manual sorting completely, therefore there no longer are any problems with manual sorting.

Tauto: Sure, when I stop being abused.
I cannot force you, and if I could I hopefully wouldn't, but I can offer a couple sayings: be the change you want to see, and be towards others as you'd like them to be towards you. If others figure you are acting negatively towards them, they'll do the same to you.

I realise it's an uphill battle what with several users apparently being rather angered by some of your earlier actions and having difficulty letting go of grudges, but with enough patience even that battle can be won.

I don't keep track of what you may be up to (others are kind enough to point out signs I miss when they think I have too much patience with you, so I fill my own time with more interesting activities), but given the hostility that already exists, you'll have to tread very carefully to not increase it (admittedly, it seems your presence alone is enough to trigger many), and the situation is -partially- your own fault.

In order to get people to not hate you, I would suggest that, for a few months (perhaps up to a year), you try to keep on topic all the time, give meaningful answers, and be humble. - That would not put you on the same level as most of us, but in fact far above. Most of us can get away with messing around with nonsensical off-topic jokes as we started off on a jovial note to begin with. First impressions matter, I'm sorry to say.

Now, what kind of abuse are we currently talking about? If you want to talk about it at all, that is. Take it in PM, if you wish.

I guess it is.
