Hi guys and gals,

I started playing Golf Story (http://golfstorygame.com/) on the Switch. I really like what I played so far.

I'm on the second golf course now (Lurker Valley), did all but two challenges there.

- I have to compete again that one female golfer on the mini course, but to do that, I have to race the course first in under 30 seconds, in a given order (from hole 1 to hole 7).

And that's where I have a problem:

- I (seemingly) am unable to race the course in 30 secs...I barely make it past hole 6.

Now my question is: is it my fault (aka: do I just need to try it more often (tried five, six times so far) to get good enough?), or is there a "secret" to make it in that time?

I really would appreciate some good (spoilerfree) advice!

_______
I guess, the "idol" and the "investigation" quests will unlock (be solvable) after the race and the golf competition?

Trying not to be too spoilerific for you, but I don't think there's a way to impart this info otherwise (I looked this up in a guide, so this is not from personal experience):

When you pass hole #5, you will want to go east at the path split to reach #6 before turning south and west to #7 and onward to the end.

Perhaps you're attempting it along a different (longer) path, so that's why you can't finish?

Well, first of all: thank you!

Problem is, I haven't the Switch here right now, so I can't check out immediately, but as I remember the course,...

from hole 4 I have to go south to hole 5
but from hole 5 to hole 6, I have to go north again, and
from hole 6 then south again to hole 7.

That's the problem - I can make it back to 6, but not down again to 7.

And I tried two ways to go back up to hole 6...directly the route from hole 5, and the alternate route to the east.

Could you maybe link to the solution you found? So I can check it myself? (possible pictures, etc.)

I tried to find a (written) walktrough, but to no avail.

Sure, here's the guide I found: https://www.gamefaqs.com/switch/210555-golf-story/faqs/75284/story-mode-guide#lurker-valley

In there it says (I'm fairly certain I'm in the right section) that you go north and east from hole 1 to hole 5, then do what I posted above once reaching hole 5.

Thank you...I'll have a look.
The problem is that the courses aren't "in order", so the holes 1 to 4 are as you write "north and then east"...however, then the 5th hole lies down near hole 7, while hole 6 is up, near hole 4.

But I will look into it...maybe there is a trick, I've missed.

Again: thank you!
And I will give you the "solution-points", as soon as I could check it on my Switch. :)

No worries, glad to help. Hope it gets your game moving again. :)

Yeah, me too - it sucks, if you're stuck and the game lets you not advance... ;)

"You simply (yeah, as if...)need to run past the seven holes and return within 30 seconds. The path is straightforward heading north and east through the area. When you pass hole #5 though, you will want to go east at the path split to reach #6 before turning south and west to #7 and onward to the end."

Ok,...I know, I tried this once or twice...but I will try again later.

Edit: I hope, it's not really my old thumb, which is too lame to guide my avatar -errorfree- through the course. :)

One of the reasons I avoid console games and tend to stick with KB/M as well as games that I can pause/manually save. :P

Oh yes,...M/Kb definitely has its advantages. :)

But I like to pretend, I'm still hip by playing the cool consoles. ;)

GR00T: ...
Ok, it's official now - I'm an idiot. ;)

I tried the race last night three or four more times...absolutely no chance.

So, today, I have ignored my usual aversion to walktrough videos and watched this:

https://youtu.be/qobxtcQnky4?t=112

See, how the guy runs?

Yeah, me too.

So I digged a little further, thinking there must be a trick to this...because I couldn't run.

Well, I then found a comment, where someone explained that pressing the (-) - button on the Switch shows (some) of the controls in game. .I knew the (+) - button opens the menu, but I wasn't aware, that the (-) was useful too. *doh*

So, - (B) is the "run" - button... *sigh*

Funfact: I knew what the A, X and Y buttons do (found that out by trying)...I just never tried pushing the B --> while moving. o.O

Anyway - thanks again... :)
