KiNgBrAdLeY7: I don't know, i am just asking, because i read some articles that "startled" me and wanted to find out more. Still, in said articles, they also claim that windows 10 can and will (most probably) block unlicensed hardware, too... Any comment on that?
It might be for stuff that is distrubuted through the Store and then somehow the user going around the protection and pirating that stuff, and then MS discovering the piracy had taken place, thus coming up with a way to block that material from properly running.
Wasn't this a big thing back in the Vista days too? I think I remember something similar, about Vista allowing Microsoft to scan for pirated stuff and all this.

How would Microsoft know that you acquired your cpu or something else via high sea robbery?

enigmaxg2: I don't think they're going to dig through your drive to look for pirated software or games.

Ironically, if you have games on discs and you want to play them on Windows 10, you could need to crack them: http://www.pcgamer.com/report-games-with-securom-and-safedisc-drm-wont-run-under-windows-10/
What? Most old retail games on disc, have those, especially securom! Damn my intuition, i am very glad i did not upgrade! I always FEAR stuff given to me for free (as i know what history did with trojan horse and the trojans).

And HEY, GOG! Start bringing more games so i no more have a need for my retail collection! I will gladly repurchase them all from your store! That DRM is growing much more annoying and ridiculous!

Of course. I still love my Ex for example, even though she betrayed me, broke my heart and helped some former "friends" of mine entrap/ruin me just some more. Past hobbies or "Hobbies" are kept dear in someone's heart, even if they by themselves died while still being in the past. Fond memories, friend, fond memories... Yes, people actually think like this.

I don't know, since i activated my windows 7 copy from a piratebay torrent and all... They seem to be like legit ones!

Actually, the truth is quite the reverse in certain situations, e.g. with most SecuROM games on CD, Windows 10 will not run it *without* a no-CD patch.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/08/windows-10-wont-run-games-with-securom-drm-says-microsoft-2/

Quote from the article:
""—and then there are old games on CD-ROM that have DRM. This DRM stuff is also deeply embedded in your system, and that’s where Windows 10 says, 'Sorry, we cannot allow that, because that would be a possible loophole for computer viruses.' That’s why there are a couple of games from 2003-2008 with SecuROM, etc. that simply don’t run without a no-CD patch or some such."

So.. Windows 10 will automatically block non-pirated stuff and if you want to run it, use the pirated version :P

Even though i am not a pirate anymore, by choice and consciousness... I am never going to get something which bashes my former "hobby". Even if it is offered out to everyone for free! So? Can anyone confirm or deny?
In order for Windows 10 to do that, Windows would have to spy on you 10000 times more than google does. So this is a good question to ask if you value your privacy. It is not just a question, a pirate would ask.

This only applied to games buyed in their store.

Anyway, and since their are planning to shell also Win32 apps in the store, I'm curious of how their are to know is a game is pirated or buyed in a different store.

As example, what happen is a win32 game is shelled in their store but also is here on GoG, DRM free?

This is the big problem of the Nadella's MS, all is sayed to ambiguous and with little explanations.

DalekSec: ..
If you're talking about the Win32 bridge, that is up to developers. Said games will have unique identifiers and all those bells and whistles. Many of the games sold here won't be distributable through the Store because they break so many reliability and compatibility requirements.

It is not a problem AT ALL. If you cared enough you would go to the official documentation, read all about it, see samples, watch sessions from Build 2015 where they specifically talk for hours about this subject.

Those that have interest in this, know where to find information, don't worry.

It's amazing how Chinese Whispers still works on the internet where people can just copy/paste stuff.

This only applies to the Store stuff. So it's kind of like how Steam might react to you trying to run pirated Steamworks games in Steam.

Eh? Since when steam reacts if you run pirated steamworks games in Steam? I played in the past pirated the Naruto Storm 3 Full Burst, even competitive multiplayer, cracked, just fine! IN steamworks environment.

And client tracked me as playing another, irrelevant free game, instead.

OK, let me rephrase that: what would happen if they figured that out. Same goes for Win10. Even if nobody's got a workaround for this right now, we both know that will change.

I think that the key thing for MS in this is that they're seen to be protecting Store content. Which means that what people sell through the store is much more intrinsically protected than what's sold elsewhere. It's a selling point. How much they'll actually back that up in practice will probably depend on their store's success. It's something they've clearly based a lot on given the price tag of the Win10 upgrade.

Internet tech voodoo is amazingly resilient. For a lot of people, computers are like magical boxes, anything is possible!
that'd suck if that's true.
you think you can upgrade to 10 from pirated 7?
