If he's in such dire need for "under $20,-" - he shouldn't buy ANY games.
No matter in what way.

If you have to redirect your monetary reserves to buy a "under $20,-" game on Steam...games shouldn't be your #1 priority.
Getting more money should be.

The OP had a simple question. It was answered. The OP even posted in the mentioned thread.

So there is nothing to discuss.

It's crystal clear now that you don't WANT to understand the core statement of my posts.

One last time, then I won't reply to any of your posts again:

OP spent money.
Now, OP apparently has no free funds left, to purchase a Steam game that costs "under $20,-"

--> OP has bigger problems than purchasing new games.
--> Problems that he won't solve by redirecting the monetary funds, he has tied to his GOG account in the past.

Have a nice one.

ergo - he should ignore the coins in his gOg wallet. he should not spend them because....

he did not ask anyone to resolve his money problems, he asked for a way he wanted to use his gOg wallet coins... WHICH HE ALREADY HAD IN HIS WALLET!

Since these coins are already there, he has two options - spend them or not spend them. thats it. this has NO IMPACT on his current moeny problems. Wheter he spnd those coins or not will NOT IN ANY WAY have any impact on the actual cash he has.

again - do you think he should ignore the coins in his wallet, or should he spend them?

BreOl72: Yep. Basically the same here.
I only ever "used" the GOG wallet, when we still got some "compensation" for the higher prices, that we had to pay for some games.

And the money that I got credited to my wallet that way, I always used with the next purchase again, so I never had any higher amounts of money sitting in my GOG wallet, over a longer period of time.

And after GOG ended that "compensation", and I had spent the last cents of it, I never put anything in the wallet by myself.

I also never saw the "benefit" of tying money to the GOG wallet (or any other shop's "wallet") for "later use" on some "unspecified date".

If I want to buy something, I simply pay for it at that time I buy it, from my PP-account (which, in return, pulls the money from my bank account).
In the case of Steam, I can kind of see it. They have expensive hardware. Putting money on your wallet a little at a time to save up for it is ok. Maybe some people do that with games, too. $10 a paycheck until they can get the game they want. Works better than a saving account for some people if they can't figure out how to personally not spend all their money when they get it.
1) The game I want is ONLY available on Steam.

2) I have a GOG wallet money tied into GOG, but I want the Steam game.

3) To make it worth the trading person's effort, they get a bonus of $10.00 for the transfer.

4) Yes, the wallet funds were from a refund.

5) The deal is done.

Thank you.

PS. I'm not broke, and my financial standing is no one's business.

The OP asked a simple question, because they were worried about breaking forum rules when it comes to trading. It would be nice to just focus on that, rather than giving unwanted advice (and/or criticism) they didn't ask for.

By giving such unwanted advice, it's like saying they can't make choices for themselves. And it’s not the first time people made these offers on the forums. This time they just weren’t aware of the Trading thread.

It's their funds, is it really our business?

Let's simply support them when they ask for help and not pick apart their life choices. It's just common decency.

You have no need to explain, it's really not their business. I don't know why they do things that are not helpful in any way to the person asking the question.

Also, glad to see everythng worked out. :)

gog2002x: It's their funds, is it really our business?
Indeed it is, because it is not only their funds, but it is also as much the funds of the people who might get scammed as a result of participating in this sort of thing.

That's assuming the OP's story is even true in the first place. Maybe it is, and maybe it isn't, but either way, we have no possible way to know that. Someone posting something on the Internet doesn't automatically make it true.

In theory, someone could make a thread like OP of this thread, and then receive free things as a result of doing it, whilst giving the other party nothing in return.

So for that reason, it's best to warn everyone never to participate in any shady things like this.
My 'story' is 100% legit. All is solved 100% legit. Thanks for caring. Can someone close this thread?

Glad it worked out for you. Sorry there's some judgmental bastards here.

blotunga: Likely they got a refund in the wallet?
Which if so, doesn't really change anything.

Money in your GOG Wallet, is not worth anything outside of GOG, so it is dead money.

Yes, you can try and barter with someone, but in my view, that is to be avoided ... just as refunds without a really good reason, should also be avoided. A refund to me, is money already spent in any case, that has now provided you with a bonus to spend on another GOG item.

At the end of the day, bartering using your GOG Wallet funds, is just an act of desperation that should have been avoided, that doesn't make a lot of sense if you are that cash strapped, and is risky to other folk.

And it's not like GOG don't have sales or get new games fairly regularly. A game is a game is a game. It would be just my luck, that if I bartered to purchase a game from Steam, next week GOG would have something even better, and now I have no money to spend at GOG. However, that would never really happen to me, because I use GOG for DRM-Free, and buying anything at Steam would be a rare day for me. I'd only get Steam's DRM-Free Lite games if free.
