You can see the the level number when you look at the map. There are four different worlds (hideout changes and you can go back to the other worlds by using the small map which is next to the big one). Each world has ten different levels (just count them on the map).

From your description I guess you are at level 1-8 at this point.

If you are, the parachute should be an option. If it isn't there seems to be a bug with your game. Something like that never happened to me while playing, but you said that it happened to you before. Maybe you should try re-installing the game just to see if it works right after that (but make sure to keep your savegame). If it doesn't solve the problem you should write to support, because it would be a game-breaking bug.

And playing a platform game with the keyboard is indeed harder than with a controller. So if you are planning to play more games from that genre, I would recommend to get one. :)

I don't know if I would play any more games like this one. But you never know.

Yes, that is exactly where I am stuck and it would be level 1-8 and the parachute is not on the bean menu on the big blue circle in the middle.

I looked at the big map at the hideout, and I never paid much attention to it, but when I look at it now, it has 8 black X marks on the menu for each world, though I never thought about it as worlds. But the smaller map right next to the biggest map, has only what looks like 7 or 8 pointed top group of trees. It says ENTER, but nothing happens. its not like the big map where you click on Enter, and you get into a game. The other small map beside the boys bed has ENTER and that was the first world I went to, which is not long and difficult like the big map where I am stuck.

Thanks for the part of the game where I am stuck and for other info you have given me.. I can see what is supposed to happen, and it is very helpful. I see that my game is not working properly. I also see from the game part you gave me that the parachute part was in the menu before the part I am stuck at and not just at the part where I am stuck. It happened before that I was supposed to need the trampoline to jump to a ledge, and only the ladder could be chosen, but when I did the part again, the trampoline was there.

You mention I should maybe re=-install the game and see if I have the same problem, but keep save games. Where are the saved games? I don't see any and I always hope I don't need to find saved games as they are often hard to find.

Actually I've played quite a few adventure/action games and got used to it through the years. Ive been playing mostly adventure games for past 25 years, but they don't make as many now, but I played all the well known ones. I just finished the last episode of Dreamfall chapters. I played Boy and his Blob on NES years ago. its quite different from this one I am playing. are you playing the PC version? Thanks.

The black X on the big map are the levels, the smaller map is for the four different worlds. Right at the moment you can't enter it, because you are still in world one and haven't unlocked the others yet.

The savegame should be in the following location: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\ABAHB\

Normally the GOG uninstaller should give you the option to delete the game, but keep the savefiles. But I would make a backup of the savefiles just to be sure.

Yes, I've played the PC version. Fortunately I didn't have any of the problems (beans not showing up) that you described. Think the only bug I've encountered was the Blob being stuck in a wall once and after that it was unable to react to any commands (I had to restart the level).

Pater, I am starting a new message to you here, as I tried to post a message to you last night and it wouldn't send out. it just kept saying "Processing for 20 minutes and more" so I gave up. I sent an email to Gog support trying to find out why my message would not get posted, and they replied today and said to make sure there was no italics or bold or underlining or styling and something about syntax. I don't even know what any of those things are. I only use plain text in my emails to anybody. I tried a little while ago to send you the message again, but for some reason it only copied your message to me from yesterday. I seem to be having my problems lately with Gog posts. I thought the problem was maybe caused by my ending the threat about Boy and his blob about 10 days ago, then went back to the same thread and asked another question about the game and you replied.

I was going to post you a message today to tell you that I got the parachute working where it didn't work before, must be a glitch. I will try to send this message now and see if it will go out.

Yes, it worked. The processing forever sometimes happens and in most cases it has something to do with an incorrect quote (a missing bracket at the end or something like that) or formatting of the text.

But I'm glad to read that the level with the parachute finally worked for you and hope that you can enjoy the rest of the game with out any problems. :)

Pater, I just finished typing a reply to your above message, and again, it would not get posted. It did the same as before saying "Please wait, Processing" and stayed that way too long. It doesn't seem that it is working properly. I got a reply from Gog yesterday and he said "As Pater Alf said, it is probably a bracket or something left out". I have never heard that before though maybe on forums it is a common error. I have to type this message and leave out any quotes on the message you wrote to me because my message won't get posted. it showed your message to me you sent yesterday but did not send the message I wanted to send you today.Very strange.

You mentioned in your last message that it can be a missing bracket or something that can prevent a message from being posted? that seems a small thing not to get posted, but maybe some forums have to be very precise? I have never been on any that my message didn't get posted. I don't understand it.

On a message I got from Gog yesterday, the person said that as you had said on your message - I guess he means the one you sent me , that sometimes it can just me a missing bracket that is the reason a post can't be posted and said I should always check for that.

What brackets or what else was missing? was it something on one of my emails missing or on yours?

The parachute problem is not completely solved. when I have to use it again, I have to press all the bean buttons for a while till the yellow one will stay on the menu, takes time. but its not always needed, so I guess I can manage.
I think you are right, the keyboard is ok most of the time, but there are times in the game that a controller would probably be better for some things in the game such as the parachute. I don't have a controller, and they are a bit expensive and ok if you use it a lot.

Thanks for your offer of helping me if I get stuck again. I may need help again. its not an easy game. You need a lot of patience. I don't know how long I will last on it.. lets see if this goes out.

I don't know which brackets were missing (because I can't see your original message), but I will try to explain. When you quote someone it will look like this (only with angled brackets instead of the round ones):

When you accidently delete one of the brackets, the post won't get through and proceed forever. Here is an example:

So when you answer to someone's post, be careful not to alter the original text or at least not the (quote_#) and (/quote) command.

I think I know what you mean. I don't see why it would matter if you deleted any of the brackets as people can still read on what you say, but it must be the way that Gog does things. I've never ran into the situation before. thanks for reply.

Thing is that the forum uses these brackets to recognize that you are quoting and will then implement that correctly. If there is a mismatch it just hangs and can't go through. So that is why it matters.
Could this all be better implemented? Certainly. But well, that's just how it is ;-)

I thought my post would look neater without all these quote words :). Yes, it could be better implemented, but nobody has thought about that yet. You could use > and >> at start of lines to differentiate who wrote what like they do on regular emails.

I asked a few questions about a Boy and his Blob PC here a couple o f months ago and I need to ask something else, I hope its ok to continue here..I've been stuck on the same part for at least two weeks and have tried dozens of times and getting nowhere. I don't think I can get past this part. I am not sure what World I am stuck at, but on one of the Youtube walkthroughs says it's Part 13 Level 2-10, Boss 2.- It's about a big black beast and the boy is inside a big ball and jumps around from place to place and has to jump onto a part before the black beast catches up. Can anyone help?

I've looked at the link above several times and tried things on other walkthroughs on YouTube but got nowhere.One answer on the link 5 years ago was similar to: "I spent 20 minutes on that boss. I don't think there is any way to get through it other than pure determination". It said under the question "No accepted answer". I think the solution is very close timing. I thought several times I got past it but always at the last second, I find I haven't, and have to repeat the same parts over and over - very frustrating. The guy on the link above said it took him only 20 minutes. How did he do that? Ive taken 2 or three weeks working on it off and on and got nowhere. I will check the link again.Thanks for reply..
