mistermumbles: Now slap some additional income tax on that, and BAM! so not worth it. The gaming work space is volatile enough as is. Yeah. No, thanks.
MaximumBunny: You have to pay income tax on that? In the US we have a 10-20k minimum. Anything under that is poverty level and not taxed.
Welcome to EU economy! :o)
So in the case of Belgium, here's the breakdown after the VAT and the Steam cut has been deducted from the initial sale...
Every three months, you have to pay social taxes as an independant regardless you made a profit or not. Minimum is 675€, so that makes 225€ (around 255$) per month that you need to save.
Then comes the annual taxes, if you've made any profits, the taxable threshold begins at around 7K€ (around 8K$) with a 25% basis. If you got lucky and made for example 20K you'll be already in the 40% taxable zone. That's the rates for a single independant, for a company (like a LLC), the rates are "softer".
Maybe I should get a green card afterall ^o^
