kultpcgames: I suspect this is all due to modern times, in which money for big companies is becoming increasingly worthless. Small change has no meaning, especially if you have to invest money in advance.
But then that would apply to every big company, so why do other bother with GOG. Maybe the income from GOG is pennies, but then it adds some PR "good guy" points.
Hello everyone.

Because in the forums there is no reply, can someone please help me, how to run/fix the game Crusaders of Might and Magic?

https://www.gog.com/forum/crusaders_of_might_and_magic/running_on_windows_10/post8

dgVoodoo doesn't seem to work for me, the game doesn't show the watermark.
And the graphics are totally messed up.

Dantre: are GOG sales so abysmally low that it takes really little to be a "bestseller" here?
avatar
SargonAelther: That thought has crossed my mind many times.

avatar
Dantre: What amazes me is that despite having been on sale repeatedly without any new game for years, Ubisoft titles still somehow manages to make the bestseller list on GOG's front page every time they go on sale. Is there really that many people on GOG who still hasn't bought those already (excluding those who don't want them, obviously).
avatar
SargonAelther: If they are genuine, then imagine how well newer games would sell. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 remains the #1 bestseller of all time on GOG.
It is hard to estimate how much money it generates. Thronebreaker is 10-th bestselling tile on "All-time" list here and - based on the updates from CDPR - it was not a commercial success.
avatar
SargonAelther: But then that would apply to every big company, so why do other bother with GOG.
For the most part it does. Tencent, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Activision Blizzard, EA, Take-Two/Rockstar, Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, Konami, Capcom are among the largest companies and they have nothing or only relatively few and very old titles here on GOG.

The only laudable exception is the THQ Nordic/Embracer Group.

Bethesda, Square Enix, Sega, Take 2 and Warner Bros. are also relatively positive, but strictly speaking there is nothing current from there. After all, the titles are significantly more current compared to EA + Ubi.

The rest shouldn't really count as big companies, right? Of course, this does not apply to indie publishers. They are actually still looking at smaller sales markets.

Well, hope dies last.

Correct, and that's what I wrote before. :-)

Catventurer: [...] great for people that only joined GOG after the last time Ubisoft games were on sale.
You won't believe it, but my first instinct was to ask: "so, people who joined last month?"...

...because I also thought:

Catventurer: [...] Ubisoft games go on sale a lot.
However: I then checked the publisher sales first, and after that my question was more like: "are they, though?"

Apparently, the last "Ubisoft as Publisher" - Sale was in November 2022, so eleven months ago.

Mind you: I'm sure some of the Ubisoft games are always on sale within other sales, but when it comes to dedicated "Ubisoft as Publisher" - sales...they may not be on sale as often as one assumes.

Probably something like this unfortunately (iirc Grim Dawn sold like 5% of it's copies here, and it's on Page 3 of All-Time Bestselling), but the fact that these aren't available on Steam probably helps a lot too.

fisk0: If only we could get more Ubisoft titles on GOG. How many years has it been since the last Ubi title came to GOG. Was it in 2019? They've got such a great back catalogue and it's crazy how few of their titles are here.
avatar
StingingVelvet: I agree, but I doubt it's GOG's fault. Pretty much anything newer than they have would require DRM removal, which I bet is the reason.
plenty of older Ubisoft titles are missing too though, the 1986 game Zombi, as well as several early Rainbow Six games.

I think you're over thinking it. Their games go on sale a lot, unlike some publishers where their games never go on sale. I mean to the extent that when I joined GOG, I tossed the Might and Magic games in my shopping cart, then left for Costco and found that they were no longer on sale when I got back home. However because Ubisoft games go on sale a lot, they were literally back on sale again a week later.

All of them in fact, except the very first one. :(

oh, I thought we had Rainbow Six 3 here at least, but maybe that was only ever on Steam.
Rogue Spear is the one I really want though.
I would love to see Dark Messiah of Might and Magic here.
Almost 8k votes in the community wishlist.
Ghost Recon Wildlands and/or Breakpoint? Any additional AC games? No? Ah shit, well I already got anything you have to offer from this publisher years ago.

minus its "Eagle Watch" expansion :(
I, too, would like to see the complete Rainbow Six series on GOG.
