Blizzard lost their grasp on originality once they figured out that WoW prints them money. I've played Diablo 3. It's cartoony, it lacks the same eerieness of the originals, it feels like someone's flash version of the game.
When was the last time Blizzard put out any new IPs that weren't clones of established games for dummies? Hearthstone? It's popular, but it's also Magic for dummies. Their new shooter? TF2 for dummies. HotS? Dota/LoL for dummies. At this point, they NEED WoW to continue doing well, because I'm certainly not psyched for Overwatch.
...
Sorry, feel the need to digress for a moment... Blizzard has NEVER done anything original and they make no bones about it, thats why they succeed. Creativity has never been their talent. Story, polish and accessibility always have. What you call "dumming down" they call "net gain". Creativity has nothing to do with quality, presumably the point (or at least factor) of the OP.

stg83: Déjà Vu, I'm sure the CEOs of those publishers cry themselves to sleep every night while wiping their tears away with all the cash they continue to make despite all the bashing. Also you forgot the latest victim of persecution by consumers Warner Bros. Interactive, who just wanted to make a little extra money on Steam with an unfinished PC port.

Ofcourse juvenile personal insults and threats are uncalled for but the standard anti-consumer practices of most of these AAA publishers do need to be highlighted otherwise they would be given free reign to constantly shtup the customers like Microsoft tried to do with their initial plan for Xbone. ;)
You can sort of say its part 2 of that thread.
... 'has become a cycle at this point.'

Not unlike GOG forum threads. I'm seeing a pattern developing here. Hope it's not of the fractal variety.

Rock 'n' Roll Racing, Blackthorne, Lost Vikings were all fairly creative. Heck, they may not have invented the RTS genre either, but they put out new stories with Warcraft, then made roguelike hack 'n' slash games far more accessible once Diablo came out, which helped redefined what an action RPG is. Starcraft was "new." So no, maybe they've never been revolutionary, but polish doesn't always equal quality, especially once your products become boring retreads of other peoples'.
You complain about gamers bashing companies and in the process give some good reasons for said bashing, yet you don't give a single good reason why publisher bashing shouldn't take place.

Seriously? Do you just like starting [bait] topics?

I am just a bit disturbed but how such lynch mobbing its like I mean look at this article again about GTA 5 modding:

http://www.pcgamer.com/gtav-modders-reportedly-banned-for-creating-their-own-online-realm/

And of course the comments says things like:

"I'm pirating this game because of this"

or

"Rockstar is greedy"

Heck the people saying that they are gonna pirate it, do they even have the machine to run that game properly?

Its not that I am against criticism against game companies, I just want gamers to act more wiser and less whiny. I want gamers to speak against publisher's actions as Mature Adults instead of whiny bitches that got their panties in a twist.

And I am shocked that some people acting like this are married men in their 30s-40s.

To you it may be a whiny bitch, but it may actually be a legitimate complaint, just not the way you like it framed.
I can understand people not having the time to create a proper essay that is peer-reviewed, proof-read and edited ad nauseum, to remove every "whine" or "bitch" you find whiny and bitchy.
They don't have the time, and I don't have the time to read essays with extreme constructive criticism of game publishers. If I did, that would be my full time job.

All that to say, if you don't like it, don't read it. And if YOU'RE going to whine about it, you just joined the fucking club. Hi, your name is "bitchy". Here's your name-tag. Take a fucking seat and wait for your fucking turn.

:P (hopefully that was taken with a hint of sarcasm)

This is what I have to go through when I use the internet.

Almost everywhere I go is like this, and its not just gaming. I feel we live in an age where negativity is the norm in all popular media of movies, gaming, music, and arguably books. Its because of this I end up just listening to classical music in youtube to just to uplift my mood.

If this thread depresses you listen to this beautifully done piece from Final Fantasy 11. It has the sound of a national anthem:

https://youtu.be/jhbBjqMZJCY?t=92

Ah such romance, such power, such a marvoulous piece.

Now I feel happy and better ;)

Gamers are angry because society is angry. Angry at our politicians who screw us over with every broken promise and stolen tax dollar, angry at greedy corporations that destroy our health and expect us to work like slaves for the benefit of the CEOs bank account, angry at each other for being jerks and idiots, angry at our ancestors who got us to this position in the first place. Welcome to life.

Actually everyone is angry at video games, movies and shit and acting like assholes and idiots on the internet because we live in a relatively happy, peacefull time, and those people are overracting over first world problems. If Born on the Fourth of July was made about todays generation it would be about a guy traumatised by sucking at Call of Duty.
