The newest game of the franchise is going free for its launch day, so if you're interested you can grab a copy over at the Epic Games Store.

So what’s the catch? Only playable with launcher? Endless Dlc? Microtransactions?

I can't confirm but I will assume like with steam it is not DRM free, and there will be DLC for it (though I THINK you get the amazon DLC for free).

But basically EPIC threw a lot of money at them.

I'm getting free games even if i never touch them. Worst case i don't download/use it. Best case i don't have to pay for it if i want to use it later and it's DRM free and it's clean.

Regardless, the 'free' part is only good for 24 hours. So choose quickly.

Good news: You can run the game without the Epic launcher. I wasn't expecting this :)

Has this actually been tested yet as described in post 1 of this thread? Because the Total War site says the opposite:-

"Q. Will Denuvo or similar digital rights management (DRM) software be implemented via the Epic Games Store?"

"A. Yes, we are planning on using Denuvo for DRM purposes"

I clicked on the executable and the game seemed to run correctly. They might include that s**t on some update, who knows...
EDIT: I just checked better and it seems it opens the EGS launcher in the background. Meh...
