There is an old turn-based tactic game called "Shadow Vault", I've decided to finally finish whole campaign (I've played in it a couple of years ago but lost my save game files). But I still have problem which I've never managed to solve - side-quest with resquing slaves.

There are running away two slaves (chubby people with hammers). One of them is telling me about others, I just need to talk with him by anybody and take him to HQ. Second one is more troublesome - no matter who will talk with him (general, medic, other slave), he will die of heart attack. I've tried to kill all enemies nearby, but it also didn't help.

How am I supposed to save him? I've never managed to solve it, and it's impossible to finish this side-quest without resquing all of them.
