After installing the new update Antivirus found some problems with GoG and I had to uninstall it now when I try to install it I get the following problem(attached screenshot).

I tried turning off the antivirus and running the install as administrator but I still get that problem, can someone help?

You have not uninstalled the parts still in the Register and the program is reading/working off those.Unless you know how to play with the register then my advise would be leave it alone and either trust the program (in which you select ignore) or abort.

Am I the only one annoyed when people keep saying "GOG" when they mean Galaxy? I guess it's the store=client mentality behind it that really irks me, because I'd hate GOG and Glaxy to really become synonymous, and I hate "client gaming" in general :P

No, you're not the only one.

From my memory, just about anything that Avast scans is a problem.
At the moment I guess there are at least 20-30 threads about this all over the forum. The reason is simple. GOG messed up with the latest Galaxy update triggering false positives in several AV scanners (in this case it'snot just AVAST - AVG users are experiencing the same issues) which also quarantine specific files and blocking access to them. It is definitely a false positive so check the quarantine section in your AV program and see if there are any Galaxy files. Restore them in case there are. After that add the folder "ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\" to the exception list. Everything should work again now.

It bothers me but not as much as other things, like people assuming the entire forum is here for the discussion of GWENT and Witcher 3. :P
Hi all,

apparently the last update caused Avast and AVG to treat Galaxy as a threat. Of course there is nothing in GOG Galaxy that should be marked as a virus or malware. We are investigating this false positive, and we're trying to fix this ASAP.

Here is a temporary workaround: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004238733-Virus-or-malware-detected-by-Avast-or-AVG-after-updating-GOG-Galaxy-to-1-2-31

Nope. You're not alone on that!

Well, that is certainly one totally understandable way to look at Galaxy! ;-)

But apart from that, Avast also treats several Galaxy free offline installers as threat. And some other harmless programs. In the end I got rid of Avast, because it kept annoying me with false positives.
