Hey everyone,

love playing the old games here but one part I hate is not having e.g. all the goodies of an Ultima Underworld or Larry game right next on my desk. I know I could print that stuff myself, but I only have a cheap HP printer that is fine for the occassional letter, but not for printing detailed maps or handbooks. Besides, I'd really like to have quality stuff that I can put in a bookshelf.

I wonder if there is any service out there that specializes in printing GOG manual stuff or will simply accept the PDFs and print me manuals and goodies of my games at a quality that comes close to the original - for a reasonable price?

You could probably google print on demand services in Germany.
Whether or not they would accept the GOG PDFs depends on the shop.
Attach a continuous ink system (CISS) to your HP printer, fill good ink (like Inktec) and print volumes for lowest cost in universe. Requires some know-how though. For overpriced and DRMed factory examples, see Epson L series.

I know there are a few such places in my city, though I doubt they'll ship to Germany, at least not "for a reasonable price". Any shop that prints banners, flyers, calendars and/or posters should be able to handle pdfs, though you may need to ask around a bit to see how much they'll charge.

Consider that it might be cheaper to buy a second hand copy on eBay with all the goodies.

As someone who uses ebay a lot, that may not necessarily be true. I've seen boxed versions go for some hefty sums and the boxes plus goodies weren't even in mint condition.

Every fine CopyShop can do this. Go there with an usb-stick and they will print and bind it to a book. You can also check for a printery, sometimes they also offer good deals depending on what you want and need.

In most cases I would suggest buying the old boxed copy editing, for instance you cant print a map for ultima like the nice cloth one which came with it.

You can actually. Quite a few methods exist online for using your home printer to print on cloth, or you can find a printing shop that prints on cloth. In quite a few conferences I've been part of I've seen people who had their A0 size posters printed on cloth. As Judas said, depending on the game it may be cheaper to print on cloth than getting a boxed copy and hoping that the goodies are intact.

Yeah, it depends on your luck. But for some cases, still this might be a cheaper option.

Yes, I suppose. I remember the good old days when there was real charity shops and boot fairs and you could pick up bargins. Nowadays the charity shops are more expensive than the retail stores. I picked up baldurs gate 2 big box from one 7 odd years back, cost me 50p in near mint condition, nowadays I don't find anything. Its why I have stopped collecting and am selling my stuff.
