MysterD: This would be more of a question for Bethesda & Zenimax first.

I'd love to see that happen - and who knows, since Bethesda finally bought Human Head, I wonder if it's now possible, after all the disputes they both supposedly had going on.

IGN on Human Head/Bethesda problems - https://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/05/what-went-wrong-with-human-heads-prey-2

Polygon on Bethesda buying out HH - https://www.polygon.com/2019/11/13/20962923/bethesda-softworks-buys-human-head-prey-rune-roundhouse-studios

There was supposedly a lot of stuff going on b/t Bethesda & Human Head, over the original version & visions of Prey 2...and Bethesda wanting to acquire them - so, who knows.

Plus, IIRC, Prey 2006 had some licensed music (that opening scene w/ the rock song and UFO invasion) that probably needed removal - and well, it probably never got renewed.

Would love to see Bethesda, Zenimax, and GOG figure something out, to get Prey 2006 back up and available.

EDIT:
And while I'm at, I wish Prey 2 got finished and released. Still not over that one.

Dabner: Wow Prey 2 looked great
Yes, HH's Prey 2 looked great.

HH's Prey 2 was supposed to be near-Alpha, once it got canned. That's all a damn shame, as that means the game was likely almost done feature-wise and content-wise - and likely just needed tons of polish to be done once it got into Beta.

It really looked, especially for back then, extremely ambitious.

Would still love to see this get a release, though - and some polish.

AB2012: I hope so as it's a great game. All you can do for now though is vote it on the community wishlist:-

I never played to this game and wanted to discover it, but why is it not even of Steam ? Is this game a shame so they hide it or what ?
You would love it Dabner I can assure you and they destroyed prey II and I was so pumped for that game!

It's such a shame that this game is stuck in rights limbo. It's hands-down the best game that was made on the Doom 3 engine (Doom 3 was meh, Quake 4 was ultra-meh, Prey was brilliant).

Yeah, same with Wolfenstein 2009. Bethesda doesn't seem to want to figure things out with 3D Realms or Activision to make them available again. Luckily I had both on disc and made copies before ditching all my discs.

Yeah, it's been a while since I played Wolfenstein 2009, but I remember having lots of fun with it back in the day. Like darthspudius pointed out, if you have the retail disc of Prey '06, be sure to punch the CD code into Steam. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the key from my 10+ years old retail copy still worked like a charm.
Wolf 2009 was also good. Yeah, I'll vouch for that one too.
Would love to see that one back for purchase on digital stores.

Still got my retail disc copy of that one.
