PaterAlf: Looks interesting. But certainly not as a pre-order for $50.
And i thought $45.99 AUD was expensive.. Whats with the pricing of these games? do publishers and devs think they are hot stuff or something?

skeletonbow: I thought it was Urban Umpire at first, and envisioned some kind of street baseball game from the hood. :)
That would actually be an interesting concept.

Ghorpm: Kalypso? 5 DLCs within half a year then bundled as a Gold Edition, 2 more DLCs, defnitive Gold Edition, expansion pass, Platinium Edition, ultimate skins pack + new scenarios, GOTY Edition and then 95% discount. Urban planning FTW :D
It's not a typical trait of Kalypso though. I think the excessive DLC-thing started with Tropico 4.
This is also made by a different developer and is a new IP.
So I don't think it will follow the same path as Tropico 5, at least I hope not. Who knows these days.

Are you sure about the 95% discount? :P I must have missed that part for the other Kalypso games. :)

Zoidberg: "7,80€ off any future purchase"

And that's on the cut price.

Wow, we've got ourself a winner. I'll gladly ignore this dev.
same here..........
the bad things in my case:

1st: it is 3d so a no go (game/motion sickness)
2nd: 3 Ghz minimum?
3rd: 45 euros? no way....

TBH its another 3d engine, the req. are way to high, the price is IMO way to high, and last: i paid 89 tot 139 guilders in the past but these were good AAA games : Age of empires (the 1st game) Age of Empires 2 (also non 3d)
Commandos classics, Jagged Alliance, Baldurs Gate classic and so on,.

Anyway i noticed to many expensive games are released, and lots of games (like paper plane)that make me wonder:
if these games lost the way cause paper planes is one of the many games that is a steam game.

I bought caravan thats at least a decent game, it is a bit heavy sometimes on my old machine but it runs okay.
Seems very expensive games seem to become quite common nowadays which isnt that bad if they 'deliver' but 90% of these games can't match the old games we had in the 80 and 90s.

I hope we will get a lot of real good old games or new ones (i like annas quest, and all the wadjet eye games)so new games can be good games , but if i compare all the new games released this year to 2015 i have to admit the releases in 2014 and 2015 were better, my wallet was emptied, now it is quite full cause i cant find anything i can play (motionsickness/photosensivity), able to run on my old PC, and most of all game types i like.

I guess they think they are Kings , and they don't know the value of a dollar. euro or any currency, plus the fact that years ago economy was way better, people had more to spend and every 2 tot 3 years people got a new pc or build a new pc.
My build is 2009 , thats 7 years old , normally i would almost repalce my 3rd build but with current economy (and the birth in 2002 of that awfull (Euro) things got bad i guess i be using the 2009 build even in 2020, and that is sad, really sad.

Thats why i switched to buying casual games 6 years ago, these games have normal requirements, most arent 3d and can even be played on a decent laptop.

richlind33: Dear GOG, kindly fuck off with the preorder bullshit.

Thank you.
+1

All these new "business models", pre-orders, pre-alphas, early access, etc.. are like cancer.
low rated
I'm cautiously optimistic. The screenshots and videos all suggest a game that I'd love playing, and honestly DLC aside, Kalypso really made the Tropico series with the third and fourth entries. So it's not like they don't know what they're doing.

But as everyone else has mentioned, the extreme likelihood of being gouged down the line for DLCs on top of what ultimately ends up being a bare bones core game leaves me wary about preordering, otherwise I'd be all over it.
About 7 1/2 hours to launch...

The soundtrack is included with the preorder on Steam... but it's not mentioned here on GOG. Is it included with the GOG preorder?
