Crazy_McGee: It might not be right in our eyes but if Nightdive acknowledges the original mods and modders as the basis for their remaster in the credits than that would be considered good enough. (Again, it's not ideal but it would be more than a lot of modders would have ever gotten from developers.)
I believe ND is putting their names in the credits as well. Several modders also got contacted and agreed to let their content be added to the game and/or to work on addtional content.
Random_Coffee: Did they take out the excellent (but incredibly buggy) co-op multiplayer? I was hoping that would be fixed in this remaster.
From what I read in the thread I linked in the prior post above, they seem to have fixed that :)
Syphon72: I wonder why ND just didn't do a remake like with the first game. Maybe they didn't get approval to do it.
Maybe, or maybe (like with SS1) they're gonna release this then a remake to double dip. My money's on the latter.
PinkertonZ: The remaster seems to have HEAVILY borrowed from certain community mods, namely SHTUP-ND (High-resolution textures, although there are some minimal differences from screenshoots), various object improvements from a modder named Vurt, and lastly revised weapon models from a mod named Tacticool Complete. By borring heavily I mean it's almost the same, minus some touchups.
From reading the System Shock Forum thread, it seems the added stuff was done by some of the original mod devs.
PinkertonZ: ...or introducing compatibility problems with DMM which may or may not be solvable.
Afaik a number of community mods will be comptible with the new version.
PinkertonZ: Honestly it's looking like a cashgrab, but we'll have to wait and see.
Agreed, especially as they'll likely make a remake somewhere down the line as well.
