The infectious commitment to life.

Shardlight, the post-apocalyptic adventure of a young woman desperately looking to cure herself, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

Amy was five when the bombs dropped. This broken, severely oppressed, and hopelessly depressed world is all she knows. Now, twenty years after the catastrophe, people are still dying in the streets stricken by poverty and disease, while the corrupt aristocrats control the regulation of the cure in exchange for cheap labor and obedience.

Amy is sick herself but she is not about to go out with a whimper. She'd rather rattle the shaky foundations of a government that has people like her slaving away for a chance at a vaccination. All around her, among the ruins of what humanity once was, people are scavenging for scraps of a better tomorrow that seems to keep moving further and further out of reach. But not Amy. She is determined to fight for her life, even if she has to pay the ultimate price.

Point'n'click at the bowels of a terminally ill world and find a cure to your ailment in Shardlight, DRM-free on GOG.com. If you have the bonus fevers, go ahead and grab Shardlight - Special Edition, which includes the game's OST, voice-over outtakes, a concept art gallery, wallpapers, and other delicious goodies, or opt to upgrade later. The 10% launch discount will last until March 15, 4:59 PM GMT.
GOG still needs to make this clear in their announcement and ideally also on the game page. The way it is now, it's suggesting to customers that this Special Edition will cost $14.99 after release, but if I understood correctly, the regular version will cost $14.99 and the Special Edition content $5 on top of it? If that's the case, the current advertisement ("you save $1.50") is misleading.

It looks like it will be that way indeed:

- Standard Edition (aka Special): $14.99
- Deluxe Edition: $19.99

The way they named the preorder edition (Special) lead me to think that there could be a normal (cheaper) edition for those not interested in the extras. Confusing, but I guess it is quite clear now. Still, no preordering for me - I'd rather wait for the actual release on March, 8th and hope I won't spend my money on another release in the meantime. :P

davelgil: Yes. The pre-order bonuses aren't an "exclusive" per se. They are only available for free during the pre-order period. If you want them after the fact, then you have to pay $5. And yes, they will be available on GOG.
Thank you for clarifying, feel better already.

Could you, please, also address my question about not offering FLAC like in the case of Technobablyon?

Also, thanks to Grundislav for addressing the issue.

I second this.
Though I've only played through the Blackwell games, buying this game (even if only as a pre-order) was a must. Now I just need to play through the other Wadjet Eye games...
well, i hope a FLAC version of the soundtrack will follow later. 128 kbit/s MP3s are kind of a joke for a special edition...
I pre-ordered it after testing the demo, however I decided to buy the game directly from the developers instead.
If given the option I'd rather do that. I instead support GOG by buying the classic games they offer.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Wadjet game, so pre-ordering it was not a dilemma for me, plus the demo worked great on my system and the game seems very interesting.
Noice! Looking forward to playing this after work today. :)
Downloading at last...
Good times for point-and-clickers on GOG.
Thanks again to Dave and Grundislav and the Wadjet Eye gang for the first day release on GOG.
Strange, it is still on pre-order on the developper site for 9 hours …

And why MP3 only soundtrack ?

Yes, the demo was nice but the trailer they played afterwards imo was not the best they made. It looked all like running, running, running - not much story or such. If you look at the real trailer the game looks much more interesting.
Downloaded and started playing immediately... it's so interesting story, that I nearly forgot to say THANK YOU WADJET EYE (and GOG) ! now back to the game... :D
