Surrender your future.

RUINER, a cyberpunk action shooter with a striking aesthetic and lightning-fast combat, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free, to GOG.com.

Are you good at taking orders? How about dodging bullets coming straight out of some psychopath's firearm? There's a bleak future ahead of you then: just put on your unusually expressive helmet, grab any weapon you can find, and make your way through the violent streets of Rengkok, a cesspool run by corrupt authorities and bloodthirsty thugs. Don't question your mission - the mysterious voice in your head always knows best.

Watch the trailerI.

Looks attractive. A setting and setup that looks like an upgraded Shadowrun Hong Kong kind of world with gameplay and themes that feel taken out of Hotline Miami.

It also must be a long game since 22gb make it quite a heavy gamet for the visuals even if they are meant to also be 4k optimized from the let go. I am quite intrigued.

PERFECT FUTURE.
looks kind of like "hatred" with less "hate" and more "red" - not that I've played that

shmerl: What happened to the Linux version?
from the devs on another forum:

Hello,
due to some technical issues we need to delay the Linux version of RUINER. So we are sorry to confirm that no day one release for Linux/Steam OS :(.

Sorry for that,
RUINERS

Don't count on it, Little Nightmares was around 10gb for less than 2 hours. It's bigger now that they put the dlc files in the base game install, regardless of whether you paid them or not. (Developers/Publishers, don't do this) Even then the dlc files only give about 50 mins, so it's still a lot of data compared to the time playing it. It's kinda funny, people with slow internet could end up spending more time downloading the game than playing it.
So, I'm a little bit confused. I was hovering on checkout button, but what do I gain by preordering?

I love the aesthetics of the game, music (!!!), concept of the game. It's totally my cup of tea. But no goodies (will OST be sold separately?), no preorder discount, no bonuses at all. I gain literally nothing, so I'll buy it after release.

Few days ago I preordered Forza 7. I would have preordered it anyway, even without preorder bonuses, but by preordering I got additional ingame content, game will be shipped a week before the official launch and I'll get a model car.

I know that behind RUINER stands small indie dev team, not a Microsoft, but some little incentives would be more than welcome for preorders.

loved the atmosphere of the trailer but the combat description leaves me wondering if it will be hard to do on keyboard and mouse, seems like there will be combo attacks etc like you find with console games. really not enough info to make a decision either way

But there is also this:

Unfortunately, we do not plan Linux port anytime soon.
A contradiction? Overall it doesn't look good.

now this is bad.
it means "technical issues" were of "we-forgot-we-promissed-linux-support" kind.

I agree. Something looks off about all this.

ChrisSZ: Well, obviously that pre-order crap is mainly a marketing tool. The game gets two news posts, one now and another one in two weeks when the game is finally available, and that means two times attention.
Make that 4 times of attention: The coming soon, pre-order, release and (delayed) release of soundtrack news posts. ;)

Blade Ruiner! A neo-samurai with non-existent sword fighting skills keeps ruining his katana whenever he fights.
stupid witless game for lazy brainless people who don't mind letting a disembodied voice tell the what to do. pathetic attempt at controlling the player instead of he making his own choices. you do what the voice tells you and nothing else. sounds like a another millennial-trash made game for ninnies and post-modern layabouts.
I am sick of all the "new" releases on gog lately. :(
pathetic. this is supposed to be good OLD games, not watered down noob trash.
