I've heard that this game is basically the retooled version of Prey 2 that was cancelled by Bethesda in 2011. They took the build of the game and then added the Warhammer aesthetic to it, I hope it's true because i really like the footage of Prey 2 that was leaked years ago.

I got canceled Prey 2 vibes as well from this. Problem is, I liked Prey 2017 little bit too much, so I don't hold hope for this game or original Prey 2 beating that game on my best games ever list.
Seems like this game only has the most distant and vague relation to WH40K. No Imperial Guard, no Orks, no Necrons, no Chaos etc etc, but somehow it's a 40k game because ~"Necromunda is a planet in the 40k galaxy"~, wow, amazing

I would prefer a more strategy/RPG based game but count me as one who DOES like the "edgy" feel. More of this please. In a world where people complain that half the comicbook movies with people in tights and boxers are "too grim and dark and serious", we need more stuff in this vein to reverse the trend.

It's going to be taking place in the depths of a hive city on a hive world. So not a notable thing by any stretch of the imagination. A single hive is like a drop in the ocean of the world of WH 40K (literally, as there are more than 32K catalogued hive worlds).

It's evidently based on Necromunda, which is a standalone tabletop game set in the 40K universe and managed by GW's Specialist Games division along with Mordheim, Blood Bowl, and a few others. As you say, the action takes place in a single city and by design doesn't include the usual armies.

Is it not just an updated version of Necromunda: Underhive Wars? Looks very similar to me, but hopefully better

The gameplay feels very Prey 2 ish with its fast movement speed.
