I remember getting misses previously mulitple times.

Was this clearly explained somewhere? (I take it is a bug, but does this mean we got a critical hit, but there where no more copies for free?)

I got one with Another World. Not a game I was looking for. I'm thinking about asking blue guys to turn it into a gift, but I'm not entirely sure just yet (I have not downloaded it).

The games I really wanted, though, didn't get any. :(

All in the third cycle of Seasoned.

My take on "swing and miss" is that it means you just now missed a freebie. The RNG probably creates an offer of 1 unit of game X with 100% price reduction and all who clicks the buy-button that second are competing for that single unit and when it is awarded the winner there are no more units remaining so the rest of the "buyers" get the offer-expired text. I guess the implementation of the freebie-mechanism would require a costly rewrite to get rid of the unwanted text. But this is pure speculation on my part.

Really? That's sad. I had heard it in the past that support wouldn't mind turning undownloaded games into gift keys, so I assumed that it wouldn't be a problem. :(
