I have it attached using bluetooth on my mac. However I cant figure out how to get it to work with the games.

It depends on the game. For many of them, it won't be possible. But you might have better luck with an 8bitdo controller, since they have a switch on the back to switch between various modes. Pick one of the models with the hall effect sticks.
