Wanted to make a post about stuff I discovered so far in the game that I can't find anywhere else.
Please contribute if you know something I haven't posted.

Nearby Tab-
On the bottom right theres a tab that tells you what's nearby (no shit). Now in order to use it correctly first you need to know how to read it. Lets say there are two rows of Pokemon on that tab the first Pokemon on the first row is closest to you and the last Pokemon on the bottom row is furthest from you. Foot steps are also in indicator on how far they are from you, one foot step is 10 meters away, two foot steps is 20 meters and three foot steps is 30 meters.

When tracking a Pokemon and to take full advantage of what I just wrote you must have the nearby tab fully opened. Just pick a random direction and walk. If for example the Pokemon you want is the third Pokemon on the top row after you walk a bit it should either drop or go up in that row. If it drops you're going the wrong direction and should try the opposite. If it goes up your on the right path (think of the hot and cold game).

Pokeball throw/targeting-
So your about to throw your pokeball but don't know how to go about it and what the hell is going on, on screen.
First there is a color scheme when your about to throw the ball. Green is easy catch, orange medium, red is hardest catch and will must likely escape the pokeball. You will also notice that there is a circle that is changing size and resetting every few seconds. You must throw the ball when it is at its smallest to have the greatest chance at catching the little bugger.

On that note you have to aim the ball at that target but I found that just hitting the Pokemon on the head is sufficient.
Also note that if you twirl your finger on the screen the pokeball will sparkle and that is an indicator that you can throw a curve ball which gives you extra experience points (not easy).

There are two view modes AR and Poke world. It's a lot easier to catch them once you've taken your photos to switch to poke world. Don't believe me? Try it out!

General-
So your level 8 for example and noticed that in your poke-dex only has about 133 Pokemon to catch but as you level up more Pokemon are added to your poke-dex.

Once you hit level 8 you'll be introduced to Razz Berries which calm Pokemon down on your next throw and at level 12 you'll start getting great balls!

Different Pokemon show up at night then during the day and if your around any body of water!

Common Sense-

Don't trespass on private property.
Don't Poke-Drive.
Pay attention to your surroundings.
Bring a buddy and hit up downtown areas or parks.

Thats it for now!!!
Team Mystic FTW!

Edit- Added to the Poke throw section.

You severely underestimate the popularity of this "Japanese cartoon".
I'm not sure I'll be bothering to play the game, but I saw an interesting article yesterday about how businesses are jumping in the bandwagon and using it to promote themselves and might just have to look into whether there is anything near where I trade that could be taken advantage of...

I don't think most people even realize Pokemon was originally in Japanese. :P
Actually, Pokemon started with a pair of Game Boy games in which you could catch Pokemon and battle with them. You could also trade (via Link Cable, no Internet trading back then) with other players, and you could also battle them. The games, of course, were primarily single player RPGs, with the goal being to defeat the 8 Gym Leaders and the Elite Four.

The only difference between the two original versions (Red and Green in Japan) is that some Pokemon appear in one version but not the other, making it necessary to trade (or exploit glitches, many of which weren't found until years later) to get all the Pokemon.

The appeal to me is that it gets me off my butt, go outside and socialize. I know I could do that normally without the game but those nostalgia feels when I too can capture pokemon like the show just gave me more inclination to do it. Plus I like this type of game style where I can't be home in order to play I just think that technology has gotten to the point where we are closed off and now to see this is just awesome.

Anybody find any dead bodies?
Team Instinct here:

If you want Pickachu as a starter pokemon then you walk away and force the 3 to re-spawn 4 times.. on the 4th re-spawn Picachu will spawn

I wish I knew this from the start I caught mines the hard way!

It looks like a reskinned Ingress, which didn't had this huge hype...

It is, but it's:
1. more simplified than Ingress, meaning it appeals to more people
2. using Pokemon to market itself, and Pokemon is already a HUGELY popular franchise
Edit: Actually, the same company that made Ingress, Niantic, co-created Pokemon Go.

This also underlines my theory that mobile gamers look for dumbed down stuff...
