Games that are best played while simultaneously listening to a podcast.

Some games are sort of fun, but get a bit repetitive over time, and can feel like you're wasting your time. Podcasts are fun, but it can be hard to find the time to listen to them, and if you sit down and all you do is listen it can feel like you are wasting your time. Put both of them together, and suddenly you're multitasking and having a lot more fun than you would with just one.

Podcast games can't require that much brain power, since you'll have to split your attention, there were times when I focused on a puzzle and realized I had no idea what the podcast had been saying for the previous five minutes; so story heavy games, puzzle games and strategy games don't usually work.

The types that have worked for me in the past are grind-heavy RPGs, like Pokémon, Metroidvanias, and Sandbox games, like Mad Max. I've also had fun listening to podcasts while replaying games, like Dragon's Dogma or Bloodborne, where I would recommend giving it your full attention your first time through, but the second time around just using a different build wouldn't be enough to keep my interest, listening to a podcast did the trick.

Do you listen to podcasts when you play games? If so, what type of games? If not, do you still have games that you play while doing something else? Or that you zone out to? Games that you just enjoy the routine and keep going back to in order to relax?

I'm always looking for new suggestions, and in case you do listen to podcasts I'd love for you to tell me which ones as well.
I assume this is not you since this thread over at Reddit might help you.

No that wasn't me, thanks for linking it to me, they might have some good suggestions. Although stuff like Divinity doesn't quite work for me since I tend to focus a lot on the dialogue.

I seldom listen to podcasts, but when I do, if I feel like playing a game at the same time, I have found roguelikes (and certain roguelites) to be ideal, since there's usually little to no dialogue, often no music, and many are turn-based.

From personal experience, I can recommend NetHack, Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup, Ragnarok (old roguelike, not the Asian MMO), Spelunky (original, though the commercial version would probably work just as well, if you turn off the music), and Din's Curse. Of course, there's lots and lots of "casual" games that would also work quite well (solitaire, Minesweeper, most match-3 games, etc.), if you're primarily concerned with listening to the podcast.

I like to play games like Sim City, Cities Skylines, Civilization, and the Paradox Interaction grand strategy games while I listen to podcasts.
I guess you could technically play podcasts in Audiosurf but you probably shouldn't.
The Binding of Isaac I've found to be a great podcast game.
Some open world/sandbox titles such as Just Cause series, GTA (especially if you download the podcasts and set them into the in game radio, gets pretty immersive just driving around doing nothing, listening to stuff);
Risk of Rain worked for me, helping to alleviate the stress and saltiness on that game. :))

Edit: No Man's Sky aswell, however hard to recommend it as a product right now.
