Hey guys, total newb here seeking help so be patient and go easy on me. I just bought a PC game (Zeus + Poseiden - old school game from my childhood) on GOG and am trying to figure out if/how I can play it on my MacBook Pro (osX version 10.11). Do you guys have any advice? Would like to spend as little money as possible but I'm also a beginner with a lot of this stuff so something requiring any expertise isn't doable. Any help is much appreciated!
There is at least one thread about playing on Mac in the game-specific forum: https://www.gog.com/forum/zeus_poseidon_acropolis/zeus_for_mac
If you don't have a Windows Install (Bootcamp) you'll either have to use something like Parallels or VMWare to run Windows or (for free and more convenient) use Wine (which is a compatibility layer - giving Windows programs the necessary libraries/files they need) Using Wine or Wineskin you could build your own Wrapper but for a beginner this is much easier:

There is an entry for Zeus/Poseidon...

Also PortingKit uses GOG versions, specifically the offline installers.
Thanks to everyone for the help! I was able to play Zeus using the porting kit. The only issue I'm running into is anytime I stop playing and restart, the porting kit says the file I just played on doesn't work anymore and it makes me install a new file, which means all my old progress is lost. Has anyone else ever run into having to install a game over and over.
Just run the app normally; you don't need PortingKit after the game has been installed. I gave it a try (normally I use Wineskin), and it seems to work fine. There was a note about not installing in folders with spaces or special characters, so if you did that, try reinstalling in a better location.
For older games use DOSbox:

For newer games use Wine:
