When I purchased Heroes and Magic I was told that I would be able to play the game while not being connected to the internet ... i can not, what am I doing wrong?
Heroes of might and magic?

Hmmmm... i get the feeling you're having an OS issue more than anything else.

What OS are you using? (I can guess Windows 10, though Windows 7 would be better)
Where is it installed? (Windows protected folders will give you issues)
Was all the prerequisites installed?

I'm sure you meet the minimum hardware requirements if it's any machine after 2000...

Are there particular errors or behavior it's doing when trying to load?
You might need to me a little more specific on what trouble you are having.

I have no personal experience of the game you stated, but with most GOG sold games, you can simply download the offline installer packages and install the game. It should then run without access to the internet.

If the problem is more technical than that, first I would suggest you find the specific sub-forum that deals with your game. You can repost this there if you like, some of our members here like to help out on the game subforums where they can. Unless you tell us here exactly what is happening (your problem in detail), we won't be able to help much.

If finally we can't help you, you will have to start and official support ticket with GOG itself (we are only a community of gamers here, not official staff beyond the moderator "blues").
You should NOT use Galaxy when you want to play offline.
Just download the back-up installer, install the game on your preferred drive, and enjoy your game.

In case that's not the solution of your problem, you should indeed give some more info.

Assuming s/he already has the game installed, Galaxy shouldn't give any problems playing it offline. That's kind of the point of it. : )
Oooops - I should read that fckng Galaxy manual at last...
Sorry for the confusion.
Even if you download the game through gog galaxy you can still launch the game offline . You just have to launch the .exe file from the folder you installed the game.

That would require you to actually use the explorer to find the file(s) in question... Some people only understand the start menu (if even that much)

I'm pretty sure you should be able to just launch the game directly from Galaxy. There shoudn't be any intentional online connection checks for any single-player game sold here, whether using Galaxy or not.

Yes you should be able to play the game offline, because we all others can too.

Contact GOG support. We are mere mortal users guessing what is the problem with your setup.

It should work. What behavior do you get when disconnecting the network? Did you already contact support? https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us
