It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

trog69: I am pretty much at a loss as to where the heck the folder containing the actual game itself is located. It is not where the Options menu specifies. Nor could I find it on D:\ drive, though I found more files there than on C:\.
What game? Some games, like The Witcher 3, have the executable under the System folder. Other games run through DOSBox, so you need to run DOSBox with parameters to properly play. All of them though should have a "Launch {gamename}" shortcut in the installation directory.

trog69: I also asked Support this question today; Is there no way to just get the option to place an icon on the desktop after a game is installed, or, if I re-install the game files just to get the icon option, will that cause the Saved games I have already to be deleted somehow?
When uninstalling, you have the option of removing the saves. If you answer yes to that, you will lose your saves. Otherwise they should be safe.
If you mention what game you are talking about, we should be able to direct you to where the saves should be located, in case you want to keep a manual backup of them.
Start menu -> GOG.com -> chose a game -> right mouse click -> Send to.. -> Desktop (create shortcut)

or

type: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\GOG.com in explorer address bar and do the same to create a shortcut.

if that doesn't help, google/youtube [altavista ; )] " How to Create a Shortcut on the Desktop"

A few comments
1) On Windows 10 there is no "Send To" when right clicking on a shortcut in the start menu.
2) Newer installers do not add shortcuts to "GOG.com\Game Name" but instead add them to "Game Name [GOG.com]". This bypasses the tendency Win10 has of displaying all items from subgroups when you open a group.

Thank you for the video and suggested fixes. I will watch it, though I really don't usually have this issue. Placing an icon on the desktop is fairly simple to accomplish.

Obviously, I am late responding because of a slight touch of Fallout 4 fever.
