I have played Phantasy Star Universe for ps2. Is this game playable offline as well? I read a few reviews but am uncertain. I so far have beaten PStar Zero for Psp, Universe for Ps2. I dont know which ones are left after this one.

Yes, it's playable without going online, but the game is sort of designed with an expectation of multiplayer.

They imagined people trading items, and running challenges together. Playing with NPC assistants and no ability to trade items makes it a weaker experience. it's still works though.

I'm not a fan so take this with a grain of salt.

"The internet" seems to indicate there are community run servers for these games.

I've got this for my Xbox, and without being able to go online the game's a bit grindy, enough that you really aren't ready to proceed by yourself. I think i put 4 hours into it and faced the first area and first boss and haven't touched it since...

On the otherhand if you do co-op which brings another player, the shared screen gives certain limitations, more so that the game doesn't play events the same if two are playing rather than single player so it's a bit screwy...
