Can anyone recommend a decent set of PC speakers? They don't have to be super fancy or anything just something that sounds decent and won't die after a couple months. For reference I've been using a pair of Juster SP-668 multimedia speakers from the mid 90s that I think finally died. Thanks.

I am using creative gigaworks t20 series 2, they seem pretty good and I got them because of good reviews.

I'd love a pair of those Klipsch speaker, but I'll just save some money until my 14 year old Logitech Z-2300 set dies. I originally paid 250€ for it and for me it's the standard for 'decent'.

Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers perhaps? I have the Series II predecessors, which work still as great as they did a decade ago when they were new. I imagine the new iteration to be of similar quality. Yeah, they're a bit pricier, but you get what you pay for. ;)

I'll second the t20s. I don't do anything without a pair of cans on, but those work fine for when someone else is around who needs to hear sound, too.
For me, PC Speaker is something like this:

or this one:

Seconded. I haven't bought speakers in well over at least 2 decades. Headphones here.
At first moment I thought that you're talking about something like this :)

I got these Cyber Acoustic 2.1 speakers. Really good for the money. Much better than the equivalent Logitech ones I had which kept failing.

Companion 2's or 3 both are amazing, I had mine since 2010 and 8 years later they are still kicking like the day I first got em. And sound is AMAZING for the value. I am sure in america they are way cheaper.

I have been researching for pc speakers and a lot of people suggest something from Edifier. They are pretty expensive, maybe one of the basic series is good enough for you.

I can't speak for their quality these days as I don't currently own a set, but the Altec Lansing speakers (two satellites and a subwoofer) I owned back in the 90's were relatively affordable, had really good sound, and were nearly indestructible. They never broke or failed. I ended up giving them away.

Currently using a cheap set of Sony headphones and they work well enough for my usage.

I'm a happy user of Edifier speakers for like 3 years now, even though is a cheaper model (R980T). Hopefully I'll change it for a better model like R1800BT or R2000DB, which I find having the most pleasant sound but seem a bit bigger to keep on the desk.

Nope, I don't think they are expensive for the sound quality they offer. Expensive are Bose, Klipsch, Audioengine and the like. Microlab is another good brand with fair prices

Here is a youtube channel with very good audio comparisons between various speakers - use headphones to really tell the difference.
Frankly, I hate PC speakers. They are always so all high and mighty with their righteous "Oh we are all the same. no one is better than someone else" etc. They really like the smell of their own fart.
