Hello everyone!

What is this game like? Is it comparable to Magic: the Gathering? Can you buy a single set of cards or do you have to get a new deck every so often? Is it easy to learn? Are the rules simple like they are in Hearthstone?

Just learning this one myself. It is a mix of cards and dice. I am not too familiar with the other card games so cant compare. This is more choose a character and set of cards and then go through an adventure by turning cards and actioning them. Its a bit more and like with the randomness of card draws. Quite enjoying it, only played the prologue. You buy the main box which has a set of premade characters, and enough cards for the prolog and first adventure, then each of the 7 additional quests you buy after. There are three sets at the moment, different blocks of adventures each.
Thanks guys!

I realize this thread was egregiously necroed, but just wondering if you had any further thoughts on it? Did it end up being worth the investment or did you give up on it?
There's a board game and a digital version.
The board game version uses a distribution system similar to Fantasy Flight's Living Card Games in which you buy the set and have everything you need to play the game with the option to purchase aditionnal packs with new quests, characters etc (usually at a much lower price). It's really good for a group of friends (4 people is likely the ideal number) with some time to kill on a weekend. After a session there's always the usual trading with the other players in order to improve your character's deck.
Can't say much about the digital version I'm afraid. I have it on my phone but haven't touched it.

Thanks. Yeah, I was interested in the board game. When this necro popped up, it piqued my interest.

He power of the i death is strong with this one :o). Yes, I have the boxed version and the iPad version. Some thoughts, I will start with the boxed copy. It is nice packaging, nice artwork. The game is a series of turns to try to clear cards from given piles. It is not bad, more fun with more people, not really solo although can be done. You follow quests and develop your character a bit dnd like, haven't developed far myself as I just don't have the time for boxed games. It's still worth a go if you can get it on eBay, then buy the expansions as you need them. Don't think it has the collectibility of LCG type games.

Now for the iPad app, it's pretty bad. Limited selection at the hardest to play characters. Limited adventures. Cannot for the life of us find out to actually buy anything from the store on . I can whole heartedly say avoid this like the plague.

Also the pc version of this is out around now, not sure if that is any good.

I have to say, when we play cards on the iPad it is always ascension which is well worth it. I have the first as boxed, and have all the available on iPad and the hours we have spent on it makes it well worth it. And if you like that there is star realms which is a Star Trek type version of ascension which is also good.

Does this help or am I waffling?

Actually, it helps a lot, thanks. :)

I did some googling after my first post in this thread and turns out there's a local game shop that has the board game in stock at a pretty reasonable price. I was thinking this might be an interesting Christmas gift for the family, as I know my two daughters would play it with me, and we might even get my wife to join us. So yeah, thanks again for the reply.

That's a great idea. The artwork is quite nice and family friendly. Shouldn't be too hard to get your wife to join. Mine doesn't like card games yet she plays it because of the art (she loves the bard character).
Hope it's something you'll all enjoy.
