In 24 hours, one million people have claimed the FreedomToBuy games and shown their support.

The response is so much beyond our expectations that our team needs to work around the clock to maintain the stability of the platform.

For people who had difficulties claiming the games, we’re expanding the action by a few hours; take action quickly.

And remember: any DRM-free game you get and download from GOG can never be taken away from you.

Any game that disappears today becomes exponentially harder to revive later.

Ah, of course. The most legitimate indicator of support, someone hitting a free button.

Let's hope the statistical data they gathered won't be misused.

It's true that it's just people claiming a free bundle, but it can be used to gauge the amount of people who are interested in these types of games — which I believe can be an important metric for making VISA and Mastercard back down from censoring content. GOG hasn't directly advertised it on the store page either, so there is less concern over a selection bias towards GOG users as well.

Instant regret not buying those Kleenex stocks...

But a million is good. If this brings awareness to, well, the existence of GOG and transofrms even just 1% of those into potential shoppers, I'd call that a win.

That's what socks are for!
Not sure if I will ever play any of those but maybe and it adds to the number. I am fairly certain I would never have bought any of them so no lost sale here.
On average, about 694 claims every minute over that 24-hour period, assuming an even distribution. Impressive. Thanks for the naughty bunch of games given away!

I guess the point is to make more people create a GOG account, and have some games on the platform.
Increases the probability of them visiting and actually buying something on the store later tenfold.

Then again I admit I have quite many games on Epic, having spent 0€ on it...

I would want to ask how many of those are actual new registrants, how many of those are from unique IP subnets, and how many of those are just people repeat slamming the "download" or "claim" button.
