Does anyone, by any chance, know what the first game to give the player the ability to double jump (that is, to jump once while in mid-air) was?

I've been thinking about how that feature is quite common in modern platformer games and metroidvanias, but was certainly not something I remember seeing in classic platformers. The one early example I could think of would be Metroid 2's Space Jump, but that lets you jump infinitely while in mid-air, not just once.

Anyone know of early appearances of the double jump?
The earliest occurence seems to have been https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Buster

Hey, I didn't know that. Thanks for the information. I can now safely say that the Double Jump is at least as old as me. :P
Have you ever dreamed that you could double-jump?

I have and I've always wondered if it was something that is innate in humans or a direct result of playing double-jump games.
I'm definitely thinking about the mighty Dragon Buster as well...
Yep, Dragon Buster was the first game to include a double jump. Donkey Kong (1981) was the first game to include the regular jump.

Thank goodness for most games, it;s the space bar that does the jumping.
And here are the dangers of double jumping ;)

However it isn't as funny as sneaking in Skyrim xD

The arcade version of Basketball has jump and it's from '79. I don't know, though, if that's the earliest game with jump.
