Although it surely more suited to be put on console, or specialize hardware such as SteamBox. Because I would expect my pc to be used for many more than just gaming

I get what you mean, though. Would be nice to have an issue-free OS that could deal with 40+ years of games on multiple platforms using umpteen OSes from over the years. Actually, considering those 40 years of technological march, things could be worse.

I'm thinking GOG OS; like what Valve did with steam OS more or less. So yes; based off of Linux OS (no need to start from scratch).
