Could even more of the GOG system be open sourced? That way, community members can quickly produce a GOG Galaxy client for Linux!

Half the forum think galaxy 2.0 or a crap or never wanted a client in the first place. The other half seem to not be able to wait for it to happen. (Oh, and there are a few very odd Mac users floating about wondering why nothing works :o).
Considering the small percentage of Linux users I don’t expect it’s high up the to do list. I would be more worried about getting games running on Linux than a client.

Edit, as for open source, considering gogrepo for example, the api is there, just needs someone who can be bothered to write it.

Yes but it's up to GOG and it's evident that they do not want to.

Absolutely, it's not completely impossible that that could happen. What do I win?
There are options available for Linux but they only handle installation (which helps if you are not familiar with WINE) such as Minigalaxy, Lutris, and Gamehub.

In Theory you can install Galaxy through Lutris, but it does run slow and only uses a generic wrapper used to run Galaxy to run all games you install via Galaxy.

When people talk about making GOG Galaxy available on Linux, they are typically referring to the access of cloud saves, the easier application for patching games, achievements and being able to play the online multiplayer for particular titles.
"more"? What open source software has gog (gog, not users) released so far? Where's the open documentation, for that matter (not the reverse engineered docs by users)?

Given that GOG's job postings included rather recently, an Agile coach..."What documentation?"
