jamyskis: Question - how do you and all the other advocates here know that it's a great game? (and yes, I know it's a great game - if not a little repetitive after a while and a little amateurishly designed, but just humour me here).
I'd be much more interested in knowing why the gog judges would deem this game "unworthy" of being sold here.

And I quite disagree about the game being repetitive and amateurishly designed. It gets an amazing amount of mileage out of a concept that is as bare bones as you can get.

P1na: probably because if they sold it, everyone would be playing it and wouldn't buy any more games
maybe it's a CONSPIRACY to get people to buy the game out of CONTROVERSY, just like HATRED?

(also inb4 i'm a SJW GOG fanboy?)

Well, you didn't answer the question, but the point is this - the game has been out for well over a year, it's been in three indie bundles and countless Steam sales already. It's unlikely to see any success on here, nor would it on any platform.

As I've said in a number of threads on this topic already, I suspect that the overarching pattern of why GOG is "rejecting" certain titles is the fact that the developers have basically seen GOG as nothing more than a way to squeeze out a few extra sales from an IP that's already been drained. They've all been on Steam for a long time, they've all been indie bundled, they've all done the sales rounds. The only exceptions tend to be "long-burners" like Anomaly and Dust, that very small minority of games that have staying power when it comes to sales. Most indie games tend to be flash-burners - they have their moment of gleaming glory before they fizzle out into nothing. OFDP is one of those.

As for the amateurish design, I was referring to its rather extensive use of inconsistent-looking stock artwork and music. What original artwork is there looks like it was made using Windows Paint. That doesn't mean that the game isn't fun - it is - but it does drag out its playtime a LOT with the size of that map.

okay, you "social" assholes made me google the game

https://youtu.be/R1j0VE6d-xE
it's a fucking 2 button game using graphics from a stickman flash animation i saw years ago?

metacritic scores are high, but the perfect 10 scores from user reviews sound suspicious as fuck.

i would play if it was on kong or the stickpage for FREE.
http://www.stickpage.com/

fuckity fuck shit, you shitfuckers! there're better FREE games on stickpage itself!!! now i'm 200% sure the people who ask for this game to be sold here are all steam fucking fanboys. seriously, fuck off back to STEEEEEAM!!! gabe loves you all. good fucking bye!

I may be dead wrong, but I think this game has a lot of untapped potential as far as customers go. None of my friends ever heard of it, all of them loved it after they got to play it.

Fair enough, but that's assuming gog rejected the game AFTER the fact. From what I can tell, this is sold on a LOT of other digital distribution platforms, most of them rather obscure. My guess is that they offered the game to pretty much every platform from the get go, including gog.

I also see your point about gog not wanting to become the place where cash cows go to die. Then again, that used to be their whole business model before they branched out into new(ish) games. And besides, if the game is any good, who the hell cares if it's been sold billions of times on other platforms? Adding a game as fun as this one to their catalog is a huge plus. They could even implement Galaxy, so GOG customers could have access to previously Steam-only features.
With the recent influx of "eastern"-themed games on gog, is there any chance this might finally see a release here?

I know it's not exactly animu and it doesn't feature big tits, but it's got bone-crunching action and flying eyeballs. That's got to count for something! Instead of giving us neither a sale nor a new game on Monday, they could've given us this.

I think ppl have given up wondering how GOG curates games and let certain ones be sold here and not others
I personally love One Finger Death Punch. It DOES get a bit repetitive after a while but its also quite addictive in long bursts. Any idea if the dev will be doing more for the game or have a follow up?. Its awesome!!

NB GOG could be gearing up for a big sale... ;)

It's actually done well, try it sometime when it goes on a sale. Even if you don't like it, you can refund it.
Edit: Didn't realize I was posting in a necro'd thread, sorry!

Since "Let's wait and see how well this game does on Steam"-approach seems to be a thing among the esteemed gog curators, let's have a look at steamspy to see how well OFDP fares there.

Userscore: 98%
Owners: 481,760

Huh... not too shabby. Which begs the question: Why is it still not on gog?

Too niche, ofcourse. ;)

Because GOG wants to wait until everyone who's interested in the game already owns it!

Basically how GOG works with indies (and several oldies). If it didn't sell that much in Steam is too niche, and if it did, then it's to old to be worth it. So the wait and see approach don't really works for GOG. And they're not the best at predicting which games will be good neither (at this point I'm pretty sure they don't really check many applications apart from watching screenshots).

Two years and untold numbers of utterly mediocre (or - in some cases - straight-up awful) indie releases later and I'm still left with the same question: Why is this not on gog?

Why can we not have nice things?

Looks like the sequel won't be coming here either. It was also rejected.

I love you, GOG, but you're wrong about the One Finger Death Punch games. Reconsider.
