Good question. I only know of a few German releases, such as this one from 2015, featuring one of the greatest covers ever.

snowkatt: i was thinking about chthulu myself
Cthulhu maybe a little overkill, but Dagon would fit as a "monster from the deep" kind of character.

nightcraw1er.488: Awesome. They just don't make them like that any more. All that ScyFy nonsense nowadays - Plane versus volcanos, big ass spider, sharknado 1, 2 (yes it had a sequel!) etc.
True. Admittedly, I really enjoy The Asylum's movies, though. Their Sherlock Holmes is truly something to behold. And believe it or not, they actually made TWO sequels to Sharknado, as well as a mockumentary called "Heart of Sharkness". I'm not really a fan of that particular series; there's too much "ironic" winking at the camera in them for my taste.

I will have to have a look at that Sherlock Holmes, hadn't heard of it. Thanks.

It's pretty much the most insane and preposterous interpretation of Sherlock Holmes one could possibly imagine; except for that one episode of Bravestarr, perhaps.

Welp, i got an answer from the dev team. They are making sure the game get's a release on GoG.

Yay! ;3
I think they should create their own unique horror characters.

Even the Darkstalkers games used classic tropes for there characters.

I agree it's not easy. But maybe a roster of both classic and new characters looks more interesting.

I don't think old tropes are bad in this case. Darkstalkers was its own world, full of familiar things and creatures that weren’t exactly the ones we already knew, and it worked. Omen could have its own thing as well with characters that recall classic monsters and tropes without sticking to those very characters.

A badass vampire inspired by Dracula will not face the same judgment from people as a badass but unfaithful version of Dracula himself.

True, the names have allot of weight to them.

Don't know if there will be a full fledged story mode, but for now the devs seam to take inspirations from classic horror movies. One of the stages has a burning windmill in the background which is a clear reference to the old Frankenstein movie with Boris Karloff.
