Hi
Just a question. I heve noticed that after recent Windows 10 update all my older games like Heroes of Might and Magic will not start and crash. I had no problems like this before. Any ideas? Someone has a similiar problem?
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
Although I don't have Win10 I regularly visit the forums here and can point you in a direction or two.

Check the store page for any problematic game. The Supported OS's are there, and although Win8 is the most problematic, I think Win10 is also a problem. In fact I think each game page has a specific point regarding Win10 compatibility and future updates.

Secondly, for any game causing you a problem, check the specific game forum. There are many workarounds there for particular problems.

There is also Gog Support.

While GoG do their best to get old games to run, and they usually succeed, sometimes games released by Gog which ran on Win10 then, may not now due to Win10 updates breaking things.

From what I hear and read, Win10 gets so many updates It's almost as if it is still in an unconfirmed Beta stage.

I hope this helps.

A quick and dirty / easy solution for some of these problems is to Run as Administrator. Doesn't hurt anything to try.

Make sure that the recent update didn't turn off DirectPlay. A quick Google search should tell you where to look.
Microsoft now considers this an unnecessary Legacy component.
