Hello

I recently purchased the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War master collection with 4 games.

I've downloaded the .5MB .exe file and the 2GB .bin file for each game. Games 3 (Dark Crusade) and 4 (Soulstorm) install fine. Games 1 (GOTY edition) and 2 (Winter Assault) do not. Running the exe gives me:

"Unable to connect to GOG.com. Please check your internet connection."

I've never had GOG Galaxy installed, and have no interest in instaling it. The whole point of GOG for me is offline installers.

In fact my Windows box doesn't have an internet connection, and it's not going to get one.

Is this a glitch in a new release? Or what?

I don't want to ask for a refund - I'd rather get the offline installer to work.

Thanks in advance.
FWIW I currently have both Dawn of War and Winter Assault installed on my Win10 PC and both works fine playing offline campaign. No I don't use galaxy either

Thanks for reminding me that I still haven't finished the campaign lol

So that people can try to replicate your problem, what is your OS (Windows 11? Windows 10? Something else?), and you said you the computer is totally offline, with no internet connection at all?

Also, are you trying to install it as an admin user or a normal user?

Was there some specific order how you installed the said four installers?

It's probably a good idea to try to launch the game yourself, directly from the game's install directory, to see if that works. The desktop shortcuts that the GOG installer creates can't always be trusted.

That being said I've played the entire Dawn of War tetralogy offline from start to finish and I've never had this problem.
I have the GOTY installed from the offline installers and it runs just fine without internet or Galaxy.

I just tested on an offline Windows 10 laptop (wifi disabled, Galaxy never installed on it), and no issues installing and playing the four games/installers in the Dawn of War Master Collection.

Findings:

1. Originally I tried to copy the installer files from another PC using an exFAT formatted USB-memory stick, and while trying to copy the installers to the memory stick, Windows warned that the installer .exe files have properties that will be lost when copying. I have no idea if that affects anything, but I used a NTFS-formatted USB hard drive instead, where I didn't get that warning.

2. When I ran the installers, Windows Defender SmartScreen popped up complaining it can't reach internet to scan the file I was running, and asked whether I wanted to run it anyway. I said "Run".

3. After that, like happens so many times, the GOG installer did start but the installation window remained minimized, so I had to click on the GOG installer icon on the taskbar in order to see the installer window which asked me which language to use for the installer.

4. When I ran the actual games, Windows Firewall popped up asking whether the game can connect to internet. I presume this is for its multiplayer component, maybe. The game ran anyway even if I didn't reply to that firewall dialog window.

Mig21Kulikov: I've downloaded the .5MB .exe file
That sounds suspiciously like Galaxy installer
high rated
The picture is not for this game but the principle is the same.

Could be, albeit it could also be the offline installer .exe file, which is around 800kB.

The only way to be sure is if he reveals the name of the exe file he is trying to run. If it starts with a "GOG_Galaxy_", then it is the wrong one, the Galaxy installer.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I wonder if the installers work for you because your windows does have an internet connection, and you're not even aware that the installers are using them?

I'm using Windows 10, totally offline.

I attempted to install them in chronological order of original release, but I don't think that made any difference.

I can't launch the game, since it never installed.

I tried copying the failed installers to the desktop before running them, it made no difference.

I know it sounds like the Galaxy installer - but it was the only .exe available in the GOG page Offilne section.

I'll attach a screenshot.

Is there any way to verify that I donwloaded the right files and they weren't corrupted during the download?

Never mind, I'm an idiot :)

I must have clicked the blue button and downloaded the Galaxy installer while I thought I was downloading the exe down below.

Sorry for wasting your time, I just noticed I downloaded the wrong .exe for these two games!

They already said they tried offline. Disconnecting the cable usually does the trick.

It's more likely that you didn't download the right files.

Your screenshot even says that it's "GOG_GALAXY_Warhammer...."

That's not the offline installer. Themken already posted the solution in a screenshot.
