I was wrong. I admit it.

I thought that the drooling imbeciles of the year award for 2017 would go to Equifax.

Nope.

Apple just left them in the dust. And yes, I found a computer with High Sierra on it and tested this myself. It works.

Reminds me of an ancient Android bug.

In the original version of Android, anything you type (anywhere) would also be typed into a root shell. So if you typed "reboot" and pressed enter, the phone would reboot. (This would happen anywhere, so if you were texting with someone, you could accidentally trigger a reboot this way.) This, of course, meant that you could get a root shell by typing in "telnet" (then enter), and then telneting in from a desktop computer.

(The Android bug was probably worse because it could easily be triggered by accident, but was fixed early on, whereas that Mac OS bug, I believe, hasn't yet been fixed.)
This is not helping the image I have of Apple now, which is akin to a headless chicken.
Nothing new. Apple is notorious at scrubbing such under the rug indefinitely.

That's why I even like MS as they (mostly) at least acknowledge their holes and plugs them. Remind me WHY we have closed source again...?

Even if I personally don't want anything to do with a mac pc I still found this to be fascinating:
