Curious, since the game is DRM free on Epic Games... it should follow that GoG gets the game after the 1 year license expires right? It's good to see more and more people admit DRM isn't needed for games to sell.

Officially, nothing has been confirmed. And until the Epic exclusivity nears its expiration (however long it takes, 1 year isn't necessarily set into stone), anything said is, at best, a well-educated guess.

I guess so, was just interested if GoG might have some kind of "partnership" with Epic since they seem to get a lot of the 1 year exclusives.
According to this leaked image from documents of the current lawsuit, this game is a lifetime exclusive to egs.

Lifetime could literally be, "Until the sales stop coming", which given the sort of game that Oddworld is, I can't imagine would be too long. But hey, maybe I'm wrong and people want what could be generously be called a cinematic platformer in 2021 AD.

Overall critical rating seems to be leaning meh out of 10, which given it's literally a retake of a PS1 platformer on the PS5, would speak volumes.

Most of the reviews cite that the graphics are quite pretty; but the controls are tar. My understanding is that Soulstorm uses a dreadful 2.5d engine.

I don't know the date of that document, but things might have changed.

Here's another leaked page, where is shows that for Mechwarrior 5 and Detroit: Become Human, the minimum guarantees are lifetime recoup, meaning that the devs/pubs of these games will only start getting money from sales on epic, when the latter recoups the money paid for the exclusivity.

In contrast, Phoenix Point, just has a period of 12 months, which means that after 12 months that might get money from sales, independently if the mg have been met or not.

Looking at the numbers, the games are far away from meeting the mg, thus epic changing from th 12 months period to lifetime.

With this in mind, the Oddworld contract might have changed too.

So far from that list, WWZ is the only one that remains exclusive.

Ooblets was released in July 2020, so a year is almost upon us and that one might give us an idea if this lifetime exclusivity is a thing or not. The game still has a Steam page with a release date of TBA, though.

Who said they need it to sell?
