I bought it, d/l it to Ubuntu 20.04, set it executable, executed it as ./
It put an icon on my desktop.
I set that as executable, but when I click it, nothing happens.
New Ubuntu build in a 50GB partition on a T530 Lenovo laptop with only an Intel display.

Thoughts?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!

1) Ubuntu 20.04 is not supported. Use Ubuntu 16.04 or Ubuntu 18.04, as is stated on the game page:
2) Try to launch the game directly from console (not using the .desktop link!) and post here the output. It is probably a library issue.
3) As usual, your system specifications and video drivers information are mandatory in order for us (Linux users, not the GOG team, that is) to even comprehend what is wrong.

While at it, might as well grab output from ldd.

That supposed to be my second advise. :D

Small steps, small steps! First we must ensure a user knows how to use a console.
nvm

Okay, this is a problem I encountered with NWN, BG, and many other games that were designed for 32 rather than 64.

If you have a 32 rather than 64, this probably does not apply to you.

First, ensure that you have the latest drivers that work with ubuntu 20.04 because if you do not, it can cause a lot of problems with your video card.

Next, there are 32bit libraries that you have to probably download (I did) that you cannot simply find via terminal. Each game has different libraries that you have to find at times (Sorry, can't recall the exact ones for NWN), doing a game search for 64 bit linux and running 32 bit games and a search specifically for the game you want to run (in this case, NWN and linux) should turn up the libraries you are missing. Terminal does NOT SEEM to download these libraries on it's own or, in most instances, even tell you which ones it is missing. At least it did not in my case. You have to search the web to find them and d/l them independantly.

i know that's not a great help, but hopefully this can point you in the right direction.
Have you tried the installation method proposed by ./play.it?

It works around a couple tricks required to run this game, including the installation of the required dependencies.
