I dont want a KOTOR 3. Well, ofcourse I do but KOTOR is my favorite RPG of all time.If there is going to be a KOTOR3, I can guarantee you that it wont satisfy our expectations. Not because it will be a bad game, but because we have a certain KOTOR logic in our minds and the new game is doomed to be different. It is the same for Baldur's Gate series. I dont want a BG3.

So, I believe that people should come up with new ideas and new games just like Pillars of Eternity or Mass Effect series. Is SWTOR a bad MMORPG? Definitely not. It is an amazing game but it was not KOTOR. Atleast not in the usual KOTOR sense. Was Fallout 3 a bad game? No, but it was not a Fallout game.
It's just best for them, can't fairly be upset about it. Who would want to deal with Disney when it comes to games, lol? They'd probably want to spend way more than 50 million on some attempt to make a game that rivals Mass Effect in scope and production values when that's not Obsidian's game. It would be a total mess and Obsidian likely wouldn't make any profit relative to effort and time spent on the project.
I'm still amazed that following Disney buying Lucasfilm we didn't get dozens of Star Wars games. I really thought they are going to bombard us with those. They did it with everything else- we're getting a new Star Wars movie every year, a new season of a TV show, plenty of new novels, plenty of comic book series and any sort of toys you can imagine, but games? Battlefront, some mobile thing I don't even remember the title of and... that's it. In what, four years? I really don't get it. I mean it's Star Wars. Releasing anything with that name is basically printing money, and it's a franchise that ledns itself to pretty muche every game genre imaginable. Flight sim, RPG, action, adventure, strategy, racing... anything. I'm scared to even think how popular a Star Wars dating sim would be. And all we got is Battlefront. In four years.

apehater: also this is interesting:

"feargus: ... We can keep doing great stuff with Eternity. I'd love to turn Eternity into more like a Skyrim product. ..."
Blimey, I hope this doesn't come to pass! :(

It's a good world, it's a good game, please don't kill it.

Hopefully the intention is more along the lines of "a successful series of games" rather than "my cat can play this".

Nirth: I rather see another game in Alpha Protocol universe using a similar dialogue system but this time, less action-y combat though.
Indeed. That game - and the universe it introduced - offered quite a lot of unused potential.

They are thinking like a small dev/publisher. I can totally understand them and I recommen them to stick to this strategy. It's the best available. But it also means that while they won't do KotoR 3, somebody else might still do it. Sombody who owns Star Wars.

GR00T: Meh. KotOR 3 would never live up to what fans think they want to see, no matter who did it. ...

Think again.
Sheds single tear and starts playing worlds smallest violin.
KOTOR sucked and anyone who doesn't see it as any rando D&D rpg of the former decades with swords and shortbows being replaced with lightsabers and blaster is kidding themselves.
