And last but not least one tip: i recommend 32 GB ram for win 10 , i have no ram problems :D

nightcraw1er.488: Right, didnt get round to this last night was tired from travelling. Anyways, just downloaded the latest offline installer from GOG, setup_lords_of_xulima_2.1.1_(2148).exe
Ran it and installed to c:/mygames
Ran the game, which launched a DXSlim installer (make sure that ran first time).
It launched fine and I was able to start a new game. Win 10 (1903) pro.
So whilst that is not conclusive, it does show that at least opne person has no issues running this on Win10. Have you considered flattening the install back to fresh - there is a Windows option now to rollback to fresh install. If your having so many issues...

(Me I always go for max ram on any system, just habbit).
Thanks for the reply.... i am aware of 'rollbacks' but i never use it because i never setup / assemble PC i don't have the skills to do it so i will never tinker around with stuff like that.
So that options is out of the question in my case.

Thank you, too many analysis is a little waste of precious time imho.

me too, after the poor 8 GB RAM only on win 7 ( the RAM was no longer avaialable that is why i had to do with 8 GB)

Now about the bad performance or should i call it why does my 9700k have a high idle load this is what i did a few minutes ago:

I tried something out to check why GPU doesnt do much and CPU runs like crazy while the GPU should be sweating cause it is too weak, the CPU seems to 'sweat'.

I closed several process that could be closed without crashing windows so not all process were closed, just a few.

see: image5r.png

its a screenshot of process explorer that shows the processes that had more than 10 threads

also check: screenshot4_cpu_.png

I disconnected from the internet and disabled AV to see what the load would be, the max'' load when the PC is ídle 'under win 10 ( it uses too much imho compared to previous windows i blame it on too many 'bloat'ware apps running in 'background.

Nasty 'bloatware' that are running by M$ who made it impossible to uninstall them cause they weaved it deep into the OS.

Lowest CPU usage % = 0.9 but 75% of the time it is around 2 GHZ while doing 'nothing''.
Imho that is just too much, and i wonder why so high CPU usage ?

I read many topic on the internet that claim it is okay to have up to a number of % usage when idle, i am used to have a windows that when nothing is running , the load is zero or 0.1 like good old win 7 had and xp aswell

I know for certain that if all the apps they added to win 10 could be totally removed,
edge being totally wiped from windows leaving no 'skidmarks' and , cortana and other bloatware as well, my pc would run 100% better.

Anyway, afteral i did very well without the M$ bloatware apps Win 10 has: starting with 95 all the way to win 7, so i had no use for them then and also no use for them now or in the near future.

I am not talking about rollbacks, thats a different thing. I mentioned a factory reset, the same as if you flatten the hard drive and re-install windows:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-reset-windows-10-pc-factory-settings
It works out the same, and gives a good base point. I had to do it on a laptop recently and it worked really well, took a while to go through, but was nice and clean. Not difficult either, the difficult bit is making sure to BACKUP all your important stuff as it will wipe anything (there is an option to keep user files, but I have not done this, prefering to do my own backup). You see it could simply be that you have a broken DirectX on one system and that would prevent most games running correctly. Or a broken C++ install, or numerous other small things.

Edit, just seen your second post. First get Geekunistaller, its free application (portable too!) which you can use to remove most apps, including Windows ones, from your system. I use it and remove Edge, Windows Store etc. Its really good, and I use it for all uninstalling now.
Second, there are simple scripts out there to remove all telemetry:
https://gist.github.com/alirobe/7f3b34ad89a159e6daa1
Or
https://github.com/madbomb122/Win10Script

Not used them much myself, but there are options. As for your graphics card, I am afraid I do not know, could be various things. Would probably be best to get someone near to you to have a look and diagnose.

gamesfreak64: CPU runs like crazy....

also check: screenshot4_cpu_.png
4% usage = NOT "run like crazy"

Lower speed when higher is not needed is something you set up in your BIOS (Speedstep etc.), in combination with the right Power profile (like Balanced + your own tweaks if you like) in Windows.

So it is okay if a 9700K runs at 3.6 ghz while doing almost nothing ? no games running .....

Anyway if you say it is okay then i accept that and if some friends ask why it runs at 3.6 ghz while nothing heavy is running i will tell them it is NOT run like crazy ....

Thanks for the reply and solution... problem solved...... thank you.
