Hi, all :-).

Not sure if something like this has been posted before, if so I apologise in-advance.

Every patch I download for a game, just doesn't register as installed. They install fine, but the version number in Windows Installed Apps doesn't change, it still states whatever the old version of the game was. The only way to correct this, is to DL the FULL game again, uninstall the old one, then install the new version.

The latest example is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

Downloaded the "Brushes with Death" DLC, only to find it isn't registered as installed and had a different version number to the main game, 1.2.13 even after patching, whereas the new DLC was listed as 1.2.17. In-game it stated "Coming Soon"

Anyway, I've had to uninstall everything related to KCD II and I'm now downloading it all again.

Does anyone else have similar issues? *Offline installers*

Kind regards.

DJM.

Edit: Typos on version numbers *Lapse in concentration*

Since none of the actual forum regulars answered, I'd be glad to try to explain things if I can.

I'm trying to narrow down what you said to make it more understandable.

This is what I understand is happening.

You own and have installed KCDII. You have also bought its DLC. You have updated the base game via patch, but now the DLC is inaccessible. Is this correct?

Here on GOG, for the most part, patching a base game never patches the installed DLC. You have to manually redownload the updated DLC installer and reinstall.

There are some exceptions...notably with Dying Light. Some of the DLC themselves have patches available.

Long story short, if the DLC doesn't have a patch itself, then patching the base game will do nothing for your DLC other than making it unplayable. You have to reinstall the DLC after a base game update.

As for Galaxy.....I would think the same rule applies.

anybody here could have told you that. I'm sorry you got left unattended or helped.

If I'm misunderstanding you, and you are saying that the patches didn't install....you would have received a warning of a bad patch.

Lastly, it is often wise just to reinstall the whole game again. GOG's patches often fail to work ruining the installation anyway.

Kind of...

Gold Edition of the game purchased :-). I patched everything correctly, before full reinstallation.

I won't bore you with a full explanation of the issue, but even after reinstalling EVERYTHING from scratch, I still have no access to the Brushes with Death DLC.

Seems I'm not alone, same issue reported on Steam and my 'Brave' browser includes AI, even that says issues have been reported with this DLC being 'Not Owned', either with Gold Edition or after separate purchase.

Appears to be an issue with installation that MAY be a bug.

Thanks for responding, it is appreciated :-).
I've run into my share of newly released titles with bugs myself over the years. I hope it gets sorted soon. If you are still into playing with the installation a bit, try offline installers vs Galaxy. I know it is a widely reported problem on the other platform, but I have come across several games here on GOG that while they claim to be DRM-free....the offline installer for the DLC will not work. Try a Galaxy install if you haven't.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I prefer offline installers over having to login, I'm getting fussier in my old(er) age ;-).

I play all of my games when my internet connection is disabled, so I know there's no DRM in any of them. I even decline some of the 'DRM-Like' terms that make it appear you need to accept them to proceed... Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop is a prime example, but it still functions normally offline, even after declining.

As for the version number issue in 'Installed Apps' in Windows 11. I'm now suspecting that it may be either just a Windows glitch, or simply because I use an internal SSD connected to a hot-swappable drive bay via USB 3, but that's just a guess to be honest.
