They missed one announcement
GOG is now a 2nd rate Steam Clone.
If I wanted to use the Steam Client, I'd get all my games on Steam.
Choice ? We have no choice here
Optional ? We have no option here
They said Galaxy was Optional, having just actually seen Galaxy and this site change, They are exactly the same thing.
How is that Optional, the only difference is Galaxy can Auto Download my games/Updates.
Guess what, as a mod user that's the very last thing I want it to do. I choose GOG games because NO DRM is best for modding and the absolute worst thing you can do to a modded game is auto update it.
Take auto update away (Option exists at least) and the site is Galaxy, Galaxy is the site, there is no choice or "optional" client if the site is the same.
Then to just add insult to injury, the terms and conditions of Witcher 3 appear to say I can't use cheats or mods at all.
Well is it a multi-player game, no.
Single Player only, yes.
So whether I cheat or mod the game is my choice not CD Projekt Reds.
For clarity I tried to bring the Terms in Galaxy again, but as I clicked Install, assuming this was the preinstall option, I'm now "Installing" the game, it's still at 0%, 4 hours later, so not actually installing at all. Yet I can't backtrack at all.
The wording forbade all and any "Cheats and Hacks", which for a single player game is not actually enforcable at all and is a red rag to the bull move, guarenteed to backfire.
This is obviously being rushed to match the Witcher 3 release, ironic considering how that was twice delayed to get it right.
I only got a Galaxy Beta Key 3 days ago and only noticed when the site changed today. So Beta was Very Quickly abandoned, probably had a 1 week to W3, time limit.
So expect lots of bugs in Galaxy/Site with no choices at all.
